Best Italian deli I have come across. Prices are fair. Store is always clean and staff are always nice and welcoming. Dined in. Small sandwiches are HUGE. I love their tuna with mayo, mustard, onions and cheese. Their torpedo is beyond delicious. Fountain drinks are never flat. I love their spinach dip. Chinese chicken salad is delicious and their fried zucchini is YUMMMMMMY!!!!
I love their variety of cheeses, Italian sodas, items you can choose for charcuterie boards, their deli has so much to offer too. I love that I can always pick up and buy a yummy chocolate bar on the way out. They close at 6pm. The Torrance location has a dine in area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 10, 2023Updated review
Quality has gone down but prices have slowly but steadily raised during the pandemic.
$12.00 for a large torpedo. Skimpy protein portion. Bread is still phenomenally chewy and fresh. (Whew!)
Definitely rooting for both locations but might be awhile before I come back for a torpedo.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0Jan 17, 2011Previous reviewI got their sandwich of the month: Il Pazzo ($7.50) and it was fantastic! I thought it was going to be dry with the crazy amt of meat but it wasn't in the slightest. The potato salad is neither here nor there.
The Torpedo ($7) is about the length of my arm and all of the missing items everyone keeps complaining about is on a request basis. The italian dressing is with the cashier and they'll throw in pepperonchinis if you ask. The mayo, mustard, etc is by the door as well as salt & pepper. I don't knock the simplicity, I am a patty melt girl in a burger world.
I thought they had a good selection on pasta & Italian condiments, etc but apparently the Gardena location is the mecca. I still give you 4 stars and a high-five in my book. - Loreto C.La Habra, CA074Nov 30, 2023
So I order their signature torpedo sandwich which they claim to have 1/2 pound of meats in the sandwich. There was a total of 3 slices of salami, 3 slices of hot ham, 2 slices of provolone, 3 slices of mortadella, I don't know if sandwiches here in the past had more meat, but the sandwich was very disappointing and definitely did not have half a pound of meat.
In regard to the staff, everybody was wonderful and very welcoming.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 2 - May 8, 2023
This is a great Italian deli and bakery; they have several locations. Perfect for a picnic or concert in the park, that's when we tend to go anyway.
This one in Torrance is good, truthfully, they all are. They have several sandwich options, all tasty. PRO TIP: get the large, it's not much more but you get a lot more to eat or keep for a snack later. My 'go to' options, one is warm and one is cold, include the crumbled meat ball, served perfectly warm with crushed meatballs simmered in sauce, covered in provolone, and served on a French roll, 'A' grade. On the cold side I like their Giulio, a combination of Italian meats, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pepperoncini with special Italian dressing. Served on a french roll. For the record, the large features over a 1/2 lb. of meat and cheese! 'A' grade.
Their general deli section with Italian meats, cheeses, salads, sauces, etc., is divine, something to drool over.
They also have a focused (small) selection of Italian provisions, like crackers, wine, nonalcoholic beverages, and desserts. But, it still delivers when you need real Italian ingredients and have a hankering. The staff is always friendly, and you can order through their website for pick-up.Helpful 12Thanks 2Love this 11Oh no 0 - Nov 7, 2022Updated review
Had their giant roast beef and spicy Italian sandwiches to go at a party nearby. The bread was a little too big but the ham, salami and cheese tasted good! We've had their sandwiches for takeout before and saw some people lining up for them. They must be popular for their lunch menu.
Hidden gem I think was their desserts! I especially liked the tiny cannoli and puff pastry cake (millefeuille I think). I need to go back and check the menu.
Parking is easy in the wide shared parking lot with many other stores.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Jan 5, 2019Previous reviewA compact Italian market and the deli food court. Went to pick up semolina flour, which turned out to be very difficult in Torrance. The store is really clean and the deli meat and cheese section looked really nice. Some stuff is imported and you may find things required for the authentic Italian cooking. If you have a sweet tooth, definitely check out their confectionery section. There were not many people there so I could take my time going through different aisles.
I'll need to try their various kinds of pasta and wine next time I visit. The food court turns to the full service dining area at night. It's not a big store but I will likely come back for Italian nights at home. - Sarah F.Torrance, CA10747Feb 28, 2024
This place offers a little if everything. Their torpedo sandwich is really tasty if you need to pick up some lunch. Salads are all fresh and they have a great selection of baked goods too. This can be a on stop shop too if you are making pasta at home.

Back in the day the Gardena location had a linguine with clams dish that was to die for. I wondered if the same recipe could possibly exist years later at the Torrance location so I gave it a try. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.
First off, there's no linguine with clams but rather fettuccine with clams. BUT WHY?? You'd think an Italian joint that sells a ton of Italian product would be able to offer a pretty classic pasta. I decided I was going to be adventurous and try the fettuccine anyway but as the photo shows, it's MUSHY, soaked with all the sauce that's supposed to be sitting in the bottom of the dish and the sauce is so bland the pasta literally tastes like uncooked dough. Guys, a bit of lemon and salt goes a long way ok? The clams were ok in flavor but again, mushy and I'm not a senior citizen with no teeth lol.
You get a free side of breadsticks that aren't fresh and soft, but rather somewhat burnt on top. Hard pass on that too.
Waited for my order in the outdated dining area which could have used some attention.. Trash on the floors and all surfaces could've used a thorough wipedown.
They get one star for friendly staff and one star for shelves stocked with lots of Italian goodies.
I'll never order a cooked meal from here again.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Red P.Long Beach, CA011Jan 29, 2024
We went there on my birthday hoping to be able to eat there. We had eaten there before and the food is good BUT the service sucked. We told them we were eating there and they showed up with everything in a bag...no plates nothing. We're sitting in the booth and had been there before and got full service with real plates and everything. I was so embarrassed because I had invited friends and told them it was great....not so. And the staff didn't even seem to care. They were getting off in an hour so pffft. I complained online and never heard from them. So DO NOT think you're going to get any kind of good table service.
