Do they have "soft shell crabs" ?...If not, anyone know where they are on the menu in North Shore !!
A:
I don't think so on Plateia. I would go to Renga Tei in Lincolnwood, but would call first to see if they still offer. They change the menu sometimes, and they used to have delicious soft shell crab anyway.

I was really happy to come here again for the first time in a very long time, it felt like visiting an old friend. Plateia still remains a very good restaurant, and I love getting their octopus and beet salad as a starter. Everything has a really great flavor to it and their house wine is very good.
However, when it comes to ordering something like fish it seems like competitor Psistaria has the edge. It's a very important thing for me too - Psistaria for the same price would give you an entire fish on the plate.
With Plateia, for about the same amount of money you only get two fillets, which makes me seriously question how fresh the fish actually is compared to if I got a whole fish.
It's a personal preference, but a deal breaker for me. I think I'll head to Psistaria the next time I'm craving GreekHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 20, 2020Previous reviewI absolutely love this place. Every single dish they have tastes amazing. The best appetizer you could get from here in my opinion is the octopus, I recommend getting that for a starter! I will be coming here more and more often because this place never disappoints

The space itself looks nice and the outdoor patio is a good spot to hang with friends.
The meals are a bit on the the expensive side and nothing spectacular. I prefer Mykonos in the area.
The service is not super friendly, but I don't think they're aiming for that. They get the food to you and leave you alone. Not necessarily a bad thing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 29, 2024
This Greek restaurant in Glenview offers an outstanding dining experience. We sampled a variety of dishes, each one delightful and flavorful. The atmosphere is truly authentic, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. Don't miss their baklava cheesecake and Ekmek dessert--both are must-tries. This place is highly recommended!

We dined at Plateia for the first time tonight. The food is absolutely fantastic. We had the feta and honey appetizer along with tzatziki and fresh warm pita. For our main course, I had the yogurt chicken and oven potatoes which were delicious. My husband had the pastitcio which he enjoyed. Service was great, too!
By the way, while waiting did our table, we observed a screaming woman who was upset that she had not been seated yet. She was incredibly rude to the hostesses and left in a huff. She threatened to leave nasty reviews on Yelp, calling the restaurant "trash". Make no mistake... she was the trashy one. If she leaves a review here, ignore it!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 6, 2024
Came to celebrate my wife's birthday and chose Plateia after hearing good reviews. We came early for dinner, figuring to beat the rush. We were greeted pretty quickly and seated. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself initially was nice and peaceful but we ended up having a large group near us that was a bit loud.
We went through the options and ended up ordering a few apps and main dishes. We got the greek trio - hummus, taramosalata, tirokafteri, saganaki and kolokothoketedes. I was a fan of the apps and all of it was very good.
For the main dishes - our group of 4 got the moussaka, chicken skewers, penne kotopoulo and pappardelle. I liked the moussaka, which was very good. The others seemed to enjoy their dishes as well. Overall very nice greek restaurant to get a nice lively dinner with loved ones.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 185483Mar 4, 2024
The restaurant was packed when we arrived as a large group on a Sunday night. Although we had reservations, it did take us a while to be seated. Our server was very busy, but he did his best! Our water was always topped off, and our food arrived promptly. Unfortunately, the lamb dishes were sold out by the time we arrived, so we'll have to try that next time. Everything we ordered was so delicious! We shared a variety of appetizers including the grilled and fried calamari, hummus trio, Greek trio, feta me meli, and salad. The complimentary bread was so warm and fluffy! My entre (branzino) was tender and flavorful. As a group we were all pleased with the food, and we would be happy to come again.

Plateia Mediterranean Kitchen is a wonderful restaurant. I've been there several times and I've had a great meal every time. Their food is super flavorful and made from scratch. I ordered the pork skewer from the specials menu, while my husband had the chicken plate. It was super yummy. They started off our meal with fresh baked bread. We also got the saganaki. This came fried, but there were no crackers to dip it with. We were super disappointed that they didn't light it on fire in front of us. The best part of the meal was the dessert. The server recommended the eclair, and it was fantastic.
There was a large group that was seated next to us. This group was very loud, and it was hard to hear people at our own table. The table they sat us at was right in the middle of all of the traffic, and everyone was constantly passing by our table, despite other tables being open when we were seated. Our servers were too busy to take care of us. We only saw them a few times and felt pressured to order quickly because we may not get to order again for a while. The complimentary bread took close to thirty minutes to come out. This could've gone well with the saganaki.
I will come back to Plateia Mediterranean Kitchen for their excellent food. I just hope that the service improves by then.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 6, 2024
Upscale Greek restaurant that offers up some creative, unique dishes, but I love pastichio, so that's what I got, and it was delicious. Prices are good considering how nice the place is, and I do appreciate that the waiters don't that condescending lilting sing song thing. Service was prompt and attentive. I was a little disappointed the saganaki wasn't lit up at the table, and I do know that's not authentic Greek, but it is authentic Chicago Greek American. I wonder if someone's hair caught on fire of maybe the waitstaff just found it to be annoying. It's very popular, so the parking lot is packed tight, and not all customers are able to park and exit their vehicles without minor damage to other cars. That's not the restaurants fault, of course, too many people drive urban assault vehicles. It's also kind of loud inside. Good Greek coffee.

Absolutely fabulous! This place is SO good - my new favorite Greek place in Chicagoland! We were a group of 7 friends and Anel took such good care of us. We tried so many dishes and had it served family style - which I highly recommend doing here! No reservations- go early and hungry - you will not be disappointed!
