When putting together a care package to send to the 9th island, Vegas, I just had to come here for Li Hing Mui (white; seedless). I called ahead to ensure that the product I desired was, indeed, in-stock (it was) and then I did the drive up to Wahiawa.
INTERACTING WITH THE STAFF:
I found the employees to be amazing. They truly knew where things were and went out of their way to walk me to the products. This is a service that we are seeing less and less of nowadays.
CLEANLINESS:
I found the store remarkably clean ...especially when compared to some other stores I have been in recently.
PARKING:
I think you will find parking your vehicle to be a simlle thjng to do thank to the large parking lot in front of the store.
END GAME:
I have no reservations recommending this store to my ohana and those randomly reading this review.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - LOGAN O.Mililani, HI2765Apr 3, 2024Updated review
Ah well you know the old saying?? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me! Well Shame on Me!!
Purchased Uncrustables (Frozen Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches) that were on sale. Bread was so hard, and freezer burned that you can't eat it. I'm really frustrated by the quality of their frozen items. I still stand by first statement that i would buy fresh meats, fish, and vegetables from here. But that's really it from now on. You guys need to do better.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 9, 2023Previous reviewI have a mixed review about here. First off i love this place for its Poke, Meat Prices, and Fresh Vegetables selection. Prices here are overall pretty good in my opinion. I will still continue to shop here.
What you need to be careful of is purchasing "slow" moving items. For example, items in the frozen section that you would think inventory doesn't move quickly. I purchased a box of frozen corndogs from Farmer John. You know the pancake ones with pork sausage inside.
I noticed the sausages were a bit "jerkyish" at first but didn't care too much. But this is what I found today. (see picture). Tamura's needs to purge out old inventory better. - Jan 1, 2024Updated review
Not as good as it used to be. Supermarket has been upgraded a lot in the lat few years but the poke bowls unfortunately are no longer it. The poke cut wasn't as good as before and the taste also wasn't as memorable. It was almost a bit too salty this time and without the flavor and umami as before? It also doesn't help that service is very slow.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Aug 21, 2016Previous reviewTamura's is a supermarket with a dedicated poke department. The poke at Tamura's ($10-12) is made every day using fresh and ono sashimi grade ahi. Most of the fish comes straight from local fisherman, fresh off the boat directly to Tamura's. The daily poke menu shows the types of poke available - it changes every day.
Tamura's was on the way for us from Pearl Harbor to North Shore. Even after having so much poke this trip, the quality to price ratio at Tamura's was off the charts! I regret not coming back for every meal - Tamura's is a must; I cannot recommend it highly enough.
The Ahi Tuna Hawaiian Style Poke was incredible. Definitely go full tuna on your poke bowl. You can pick any of the poke styles on the daily menu.
Also got the Ahi Tuna Tamara's, not as good as the Ahi Tuna Hawaiian Style in my opinion, with Lomi Salmon and Kahlua Pork. Definitely go full tuna. There's no point in getting the salmon and pork. The salmon and pork were good, but you can get them anywhere. Get as much tuna as you can from Tamara's! You don't get that quality anywhere. - Aug 27, 2023Updated review
Updating my review. This time was a disappointment. Had high expectations for my Ahi Sunrise Poke since it was so good last time. Ordered the poke bowl version with 2 scoops rice. They offered to put furikake on the rice which was nice. However, the poke cut was stringy this time. Maybe they have a new fish cutter? It wasn't as remarkable tasting as last time and it was a tad too spicy. I don't recall it being spicy at all last time. The service was also really slow since they had a new guy running the register and he had lots of issues. The manager had to relieve him to take a break since the line was getting long.
Maybe today was an off day? Might give it another try later.Helpful 4Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 24, 2023Previous reviewThis review is for their Fresh Ahi Sunrise Poke only. Hands down the best Poke on the island! I'm a very Picky Poke Person and this poke gets high marks. The fresh ahi just melts in your mouth. No stringy parts. The spicy creamy sauce topped with the furikake seasoning and the fresh avocados makes a masterfully crafted poke creation. One of the best poke I've had! The only drawback is the steep price at $25.99 lb. but like the saying goes: you get what you pay for. This poke is worth trying!
Instead of the poke bowl, I like to order 1/2 lb. poke and a scoop of rice for $16. I think you get more poke this way. They also have canned & bottled drinks too.
Service is good. I like the dedicated poke room. Supermarket parking was plentiful when I came at lunch time on a weekday. Definitely will be back! - Mochi O.Pearl City, HI013726Apr 14, 2024
We came here for the poke. The unko at the glass was super nice and took our order quickly. We got the fresh sunrise and the ninja-my two faves. I think it was $22 a pound. They didnt have the king crab poke but all good. The avocado in the sunrise was HARD. They should have known when they were cutting it that it was too hard. Taste was on point but i love the avocado and it kind of sucked crunching on it while eating. The ninja had way too much ginger. Ive never had it with that much before &it was kind of disappointing because i recommended us getting it.

This is probably the third different Tamura's location I've visited in the past month; and it's also the first time I've been here. I was pretty impressed with the size of the store which seemed to rival the Laie location. I also appreciated the large parking lot that only seems to be for Tamura's so there is ample parking.
I went here entirely for the poke so I also appreciated that the poke counter is located on a small side area as soon as you enter the store. It beats not having to go into the main area of the store.
The line was moderately long when I came at about 1:00 on a Saturday. But there were two employees working the counter so it was only about a 7 minute wait. Although there were many ahi selections I wanted to try, I went with the Tamura's sauce ahi and my favorite tofu poke. The tofu was exceptional as always. The ahi was pretty damn good and I'd likely get it again. It was salty and sweet-- definitely could taste sesame oil, shoyu, and sugar. It was fresh so very tender, and loaded with regular onions and green onions.
I definitely liked this location and the service was friendly.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Feb 11, 2023
Stopped by here for some poke before heading to Pokai beach just down the street. We tried the Limu poke, smoked tako, green onion poke and a spicy poke, all delicious! Wasn't a big fan of the smoked tako, had a strong barbecue flavor, I think I would have preferred the other tako they were selling but if you like bbq flavor then order it!
Recommend picking up some taro or shrimp chips to eat with the poke or it's also yummy on its own! Workers were friendly and poke was delicious!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 2 - Aug 1, 2023Updated review
Been coming here for years, from there Poki, Marinated Teriyaki, Teriyaki Hamburger etc. But there Fried Chicken is the Best @$5.99 a lbs. Crispy and Juicy. Another secret is there Chow Fun is Best I've tasted @ $6.00 a lbs. As you can see my picture...$34.00- for everything, you can feed 4-people. What a bargain since everything is so expensive. Tamura's is know for there low price. If you're in Wahiawa, please stop by and try these items. Aloha, Derek

After a disappointing poke bowl from Foodland I ended up here the next day hoping for redemption!
Fresh fish, better portions, non crunchy rice...yes!
Slightly higher prices but definitely worth the fresh fish and better flavor. Quick service even with the long line of people...
Will def be back in the future for a classic poke bowl!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
