This was my first week in advanced photography. I decided on my artist statement: taking idioms, metaphors, expressions, and figures of speech and turning them into photographs. The figure of speech I used this week was “Masked Emotions”. I took a mask displaying an emotion and used it to portray my interpretation of this expression. I intentionally tried to use the same mask to show two different emotions, or two separate variation of the same emotion. I used a studio setup to take these photos which helped me to better control the lighting and black out the background. Overall, I enjoyed the shooting and editing process that was involved in these photos and I am excited to further pursue my artist statement, more in depth.
