Foreign trade turnover increased by 33.3%

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first quarter of 2017, Mongolia traded with 119 countries and total trade turnover reached 2076.1 million US dollars, of which 1299.9 million by exports and 776.2 million by imports.
Total foreign trade turnover increased by 518.1 million US dollars or 33.3%, of which exports increased by 340.9 million or 35.6% and imports rose by 177.2 million US dollars or 29.6% compared to the same period of the previous year

Balance of Trade

The export rise of 340.9 million US dollars or 35.6% was due to increase by 426.5 million US dollars in mineral products export, particularly increase by 442.1 million US dollars in coal export, however export of precious stones, metal and jewellery decreased by 67.9 million US dollars.
The import increase of 177.2 million US dollars or 29.6% was mainly due to 52.4 million US dollars rise in machinery, equipment, electric appliances, 27.7 million US dollars increase in transport vehicles, their spare parts and 62.9 million US dollars increase in mineral products import, specially 44.4 million US dollars increase in diesel import and 18.8 million US dollars increase in petrol import.
