Cannabis 101 : Types of Cannabis Concentrate

Many differences between cannabis extracts, from batters to shatters and also differentiating from live resin to cured resin. This article goes over the concentrate types by name and also talks about best ways to use different types of concentrates.

  • Honeycomb or Crumble

    • Honeycomb or crumble is a form of concentrate that is more pliable than other concentrates. When agitated honeycomb turns into a “crumble”

  • THCA Diamonds

    • THCa crystals / THC Isolate these are two names for meaning the same thing. THCa is tasteless, odorless and smokeless product. Although, when terpenes are present it allows for the entourage effect and more smoke or vapor.

  • THCA Diamonds in Sauce

    • THCA diamonds in sauce is taking coagulated THCA isolate and re-introducing the preserved terpenes back to the finished product.

  • Sugar

    • Sugar is basically crushed up THCA crystal isolate mixed with terpenes.

  • Shatter or Butane Hash Oil (BHO)

    • Shatter is a word used to refer to butane hash oil (BHO), Shatter is a type of extraction process to form a cannabis concentrate usually brittle but can be pliable depending on the product.

  • Badder or Budder

    • Badder or budder has a consistency like cake batter. Very pliable full of terpenes and flavor, very easy to dab.

  • Sauce

    • Sauce is how it sounds, it is a simple terpene sauce with lower THC percentage and a higher milligram of terpenes. Terpenes help provide the entourage effect and are great to add with isolated cannabinoids.

    • (Tip: When dealing with quality product high in THC is going to be lower in terpenes, if it is low in THC it is high in terpenes. )

  • Hash

    • Hash is a form of cannabis concentrated extract. Hash can be made many different ways most are solventless and have higher amount of cannabinoids but lower THC percentages.

  • Rosin

    • Rosin is a solventless concentrate made from flower, hash, and or kief through heat and pressure. Rosin is a great way to capture terpenes and cannabinoids from the plant. Rosin can come in the form of a batter or a brittle shatter like product.
