Safety Concerns Close All Fields At Needham's Memorial Park

Town officials have closed all fields at Needham Memorial Park until further notice due to broken glass found throughout the fields.

NEEDHAM, MA — All fields at Memorial Mark in Needham are closed to the public and all user groups until further notice after acts of vandalism were found throughout the fields Wednesday.

Synthetic Multipurpose, Synthetic 60' Diamond, and the grass 90' Diamond will not reopen until further notice.

Town officials said vandalism in the form of broken glass was found throughout all the fields in Memorial Park.

"Until we are certain all broken glass has been found and properly disposed of, no individual should use any area of Memorial Park for any purpose to ensure the safety of our community." Needham town officials said Wednesday.

No field may be used if there is standing water, and no unauthorized maintenance work may be done. Field decisions are final and may not be superseded by other officials.

The Town of Needham expects to release an update on the fields later today.
