Street Remains Closed In Roslindale After Car Devastates Building

ROSLINDALE, MA — A main street through Roslindale Square remained closed Monday after a driver hit a building Sunday near the intersection of Birch and South streets and caused a partial collapse.

The incident happened Sunday around 9 a.m. when a driver smashed into the first floor of 8 Corinth St., a two-story brick building that houses the Square Root coffee shop and a barber shop.

The driver was taken to a local hospital after the crash, according to Boston fire officials, and the building was evacuated due to concerns about the structure.

On Monday morning, Boston police said Corinth Street through Roslindale Square would remain closed until further notice.

Police did not immediately announce any charges against the driver.
