Nudibranchia group detail.
Mantle (dorsal surface) with pair of rhinophores anteriorly. Gills as a cluster posteriorly, or laterally, or laterally below mantle overhang.

General Description

Body shape slug-like with gill structures visible as a single cluster on back of the animal. Pattern includes shades or colours of red and/or white. Animal up to 3 cm long.

Biology

Other species of Rostanga occurring in south-eastern Australia are: Rostanga bifurcate with a shallow mid-dorsal crest that is plain red in colour and a spiral egg ribbon that is very tightly folded. Rostanga bassia is dull orange red in colour, its short egg ribbon contains few large eggs from which crawling young hatch.

Often under stones or on algae, to depth of 30 m.
