Welcome to She’s Rooted Home Saffron farm.
Located in the Southern California Mojave Desert. We are considered one of the largest Saffron farms on the west coast, with only a handful of Saffron farms located in the USA. Unfortunately most of the USA’s Saffron is imported from oversea’s. Iran being the largest producer, supplying 90% of the world’s Saffron. We have a very similar climate to Iran, which is why our saffron thrives here in the Southern California Mojave Desert.
We’ve finished the 2022 harvest season with well over 100 grams of the highest quality Saffron, grown in the USA on a small family owned farm.
The Philipp family has been sharing their journey back to the basics, as they acquire traditional skills of the past within their community and also on Instagram @ShesRootedHome for the last 5 years, before diving into the world of farming. We are considered first generation farmers on the West Coast, with a history of 3 generations still actively farming in Perryton, Tx. Desiring to know where our food comes from and nourishing our family with homegrown food, the Philipp family planted 60k corms of Saffron on their desert property. This year being our first year producing Saffron. Our hope is to supply homegrown herbs and spices to our community, while getting back to our farming roots.
Saffron is also known as Red Gold, a highly valuable spice. When stored properly Saffron can last for many years and even decades.
Saffron contains many beneficial medical properties and is used in homeopathy.
Saffron provides a delightful taste and is used as a powerful dye.
Our Saffron is grown organically, without pesticides and herbicides.
Why is Saffron the world’s most expensive spice?
It takes a lot of flowers to make a little bit of Saffron. It is also planted, harvested and processed manually. In the late summer Sativus Crocus (Saffron corms) are planted by hand. Once the flowers bloom, they’re picked and processed by hand. She’s Rooted Home provides the highest quality and strongest flavor Saffron- The Super Negin grade.
Our hope is not only to supply our community with this amazing spice, but also to bring awareness to the world of farming and agriculture.
