Creag Dhubh is really just a rocky bulge on the northern arm of higher Meall a’ Bhùiridh, but its prominent position overlooking Glen Coe and the imposing cliffs of Buachaille Etive Mòr makes it a marvellous viewpoint – and an accessible one thanks to the access chairlift forming part of Glencoe Mountain Resort. Needless to say, waiting for a clear day to visit the 748-metre summit is essential: a viewpoint with no views has very little appeal! We’ve categorised this hill as a viewpoint rather than a proper hike with the assumption that you ride the chair up from the car park first; without the chairlift, the straightforward stroll becomes a lung-busting hill walk.

💬 From the car park, ride the chairlift (if open) up the steep slower slopes. From the top of the chairlift it’s a 10-min walk (each way) uphill to the summit on a clear path with a few rough sections (⬤ Moderate). There is also a rough, steep path beside the chairlift (add 300m ascent – sturdy footwear recommended) if you don’t want to pay for a lift ticket.
