Favor
David says in psalm 5 vers 12: Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
I have a question for you: How does God's favor look like?
How about we look in the natural world first, what does it mean. According to Oxford Dictionary favor means: Approval, support, or liking for someone or something. So favor is when you approve someone, when you support him or her, when you like someone or something.
Now if favor looks like that in natural, what would look like in the Kingdom of God? Favor with God could be spelled like that: Approval from the King of kings, support from Him, He finds delight in us.
So how do we get favor with the Lord?
Isaiah 66:2 says: “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.”
So if you are humble you find favor with the Lord, if you are contrite in spirit you also find favor with the Lord and those who tremble at the word of the Lord, those who fear the Lord find favor with Him.
Another way to find favor with the Lord is to seek wisdom. Proverbs 8:35 says: “For those who find me (talking about wisdom) find life and receive favor from the LORD.”
I believe that another way to find favor with the Lord is to First seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
God looks out for those who love Him and love His commands so that He can protect, bless and guide them, but that doesn't mean that everyone who is prosperous or healthy has the favor of God upon his life. Nor does it mean that those who find the Lord favor will never suffer difficulties. Many people in the Bible had the Lord’s favor but also suffered tribulation. Look at Jesus, Paul, the Apostles and many others. The favor of God doesn't mean you will have a pink life, a life without difficulties. It means that in any situation, hard or not hard you will have the favor of the Lord upon your life.
