Begonia 'Lalomie' is a rex cultivar hybridized the late master hybridizer Mabel Corwin. She created many beautiful, large leaf rex cultivars. 'Lalomie' has large silver leaves with a purple black area near the point of petiole attachment. Within this dark area are small silver spots. Also along the leaf margin is a dark purple edge. In the center of the leaf are areas of pink running into the veins. This hybrid with its unique markings won the Best New Introduction by a hobby grower at the 1983 American Begonia Society Convention. Rex begonias like a little extra humidity and good light. This cultivar has a full growth habit. The flowers are bright pink. Like many rex hybrids, the colors in the leaves tend to vary depending on season. Colors tend to dull in the heat of summer but will become more vibrant again as the weather cools.

(Corwin, CA, 1983)

Shade to partial shade, temp 55 to 90 degrees, 12 to 15 ins. tall, allow getting fairly dry between waterings.

Family: Begoniaceae

This plant is shipped in a 3 - 4 inch pot.
