“Culturally Responsive Mentorship: Implications for Student Development”
An in-person event featuring Professor Angela Byars-Winston (University of Wisconsin–Madison) on April 19th (Wed) at 10am PDT
Join us to celebrate diversity and excellence in research as we bring together scholars from all career stages to discuss efforts to promote equity and inclusion within academia.
Dr. Angela Byars-Winston is a counseling psychologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Additionally, she is Principal Investigator in the NIH National Research Mentoring Network leading the Culturally Aware Mentorship initiative. She investigates cultural and organizational influences on career development, effective mentorship of college students and early career faculty, and studies interventions aimed at increasing  retention  of  individuals  from  racial/ethnic  groups  marginalized  in  STEMM. Dr. Byars-Winston is the 2022 recipient of the Outstanding Educator for Innovation in Mentorship Research Award from the Association of Clinical and Translational Science.
