Time to celebrate a local institution. The Retreat (123 S Hyde Park) is Tampa’s oldest bar, according to its owners, and it will celebrate 85 years of serving Tampa on November 4.

Retreat, established in 1938, invites the community to join the festivities this fall. Attendees will enjoy drinks, delicious food, live DJs, and so much more. “Cheers to the memories, and here’s to many more,” writes The Retreat team on the Facebook event page.

This local gem is famous for its strong drinks. The ultimate hot weather refresher is the South Tampa Sweet Tea made with Jefferson’s very small batch, sweet tea, lemon juice, and honey water. Other signature cocktails include the blackberry bourbon lemonade, the Kiwi splash with Tito’s vodka, and the Honeymoon Island featuring Ketel One Grapefruit Rose Vodka, honey water, lemon juice, Aperol, grapefruit beer, and a Kiwi garnish.

No neighborhood diver bar is complete without a short and sweet food menu. The Retreat slings cheese dogs, pepperoni and cheese dough rollups, brats on Hawaiian rolls, and tacos on occasion. There’s also a selection of 5 profound and strong shots if you want to take your celebrating to the next level.
