"The age of humanity falls upon its twilight! It is time for the age of the Elite to rise! Let the Great Journey begin!"

Species: Sangheili

Appearances: Omega Halo

Voiced by: Hugh Verheylewegen

An overzealous Shipmaster in command of a Covenant splinter group, intent on finding Halo to begin the Great Journey. He's the central antagonist and the main source of conflict for Generation and Omega Halo.
  • Arch-Enemy: Quickly shoots to the top of Saul's shit list when he reveals he was the one who ordered the attack that killed the rest of his squad.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Lunacy aside, the Shipmaster is head and shoulders the most skilled character in the series. Even without his forces, he's able to fight through a horde of Flood on his own, whereas the Spartans barely survived. In the climax, he easily ambushes Katherine and defeats Saul, and could have killed them both were it not for Grey's intervention and his own hubris.
  • Ax-Crazy: Make no mistake, beneath that sophisticated exterior, the Shipmaster is an overzealous, genocidal mad man.
  • Benevolent Boss: Zig-zagged. He doesn't berate or abuse his subordinates but has a nasty habit of sending entire platoons worth of Elites to die against the Spartans in the name of the Great Journey. From his troops' point of view, dying for the Journey is a great honor but from anyone else, it can be viewed as a case of We Have Reserves taking effect.
  • Big Bad: The main antagonist of the Generation/Omega Halo duology, responsible for igniting the Second War with humanity and necessitating the creation of the Spartan-IV program.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: With the Flood in Omega Halo. While 'Kodomee is the more prominent of the two, the Flood potentially escaping Halo makes them every bit a threat as the Shipmaster himself, and both need to be stopped to save the galaxy.
  • Boom, Headshot!: His final fate at the hands of Saul and Grey, using the classic plasma pistol/headshot combo.
  • Brains and Brawn: Shared this dynamic with 'Thalashee. Being his superior, he was obviously the brains of the operation.
  • The Captain: True to his title, he leads a small armada, but is captain of his personal flagship, the Righteous Conviction.
  • Cold Ham: He usually speaks quietly and calmly, but with such charismatic conviction, he's a captivating presence. That being said, he occasionally dips into Large Ham.
  • Death from Above: Before departing Earth in search of Omega Halo, 'Kodomee decides to glass Africa For the Evulz.
  • Defector from Decadence: With his religious zeal for Covenant doctrine, it's easy to forget 'Kodomee was actually a Covenant defector who split during the Great Schism, believing the Prophets were the ones who forsook the Great Journey and set out to find Halo himself.
  • Enemy Mine: Defied. Commander Grey proposes an alliance to stop the Flood as both sides are now at risk of being consumed. The Shipmaster laughs them off and decides to activate Halo to wipe out the Flood and his human enemies, as well.
  • Evil Counterpart: For Commander Grey. Saul may have it out for him, but the Shipmaster shares the same role as Grey in terms of command structure. Both are the respective Big Good and Big Bad to their factions. Grey leads through respect and seeks to get everyone out alive, while the Shipmaster leads through charisma and faith, but ultimately has little care for the lives of his men. Despite their limited interaction, it's rather fitting that Grey be the one to deal the killing blow.
  • Evil Gloating: What ultimately does him in. Despite having Saul dead to rights, 'Kodomee just can't resist the chance to rub his victory in his face, which earns him a hole in the head for his troubles.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: His voice is fairly low-pitch with an elegant touch to it, as well.
  • Expy: Of Jul 'Mdama from Halo canon. Like Jul, 'Kodomee is the charismatic, ruthless leader of a splinter group that continues to peddle the Covenant's doctrine and wage war against humanity long after the Human-Covenant War has officially ended.
  • Fatal Flaw: His pride. He's so convinced of his superiority that he underestimates his enemies at the most inopportune times. It comes to a head in final confrontation with Saul. Rather than just killing him, he takes the time to gloat and rub his victory in Saul's face, giving Grey the time to intervene and distract him long enough for Saul to grab a plasma pistol and deprive him of his shields, allowing Grey an opening to land the kill shot. He was ultimately undone by his own hubris.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Of Generation, as 'Thalashee's master but doesn't directly influence the story's events until the very end, where he orders the assault that claimed the lives of most of Saul's squad. He eventually becomes the Big Bad for Omega Halo, and even after his defeat, his actions cast a long shadow over the rest of the series.
  • The Heavy: Justified. He's forced to take a more direct role after 'Thalashee is killed. His intentions to begin the Great Journey drives the plot of Omega Halo.
  • Hero Killer: Responsible for the deaths of Jake, Cameron, and Christian at the end of Generation.
  • Large Ham: He can dip into this from time to time, such as his page quote.
  • Light Is Not Good: He wears pristine white armor as a sign of his rank, but it does not hide the fact that he's an Ax-Crazy, Omnicidal Maniac hellbent on firing Halo.
  • Man Behind the Man: He's 'Thalashee's superior and the one who ultimately pulls the strings.
  • Near-Villain Victory: He's more than a match for the Spartans and very nearly succeeded in killing them both. He would have won had Halo's firing array been fully operational, but his hubris ultimately cost him in the end.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Of the oblivious variety. He believes activating Halo will begin the Great Journey, when it'll really just wipe all sentient life in the galaxy. But 'Kodomee dismisses such revelations as lies from the weak to sway him from his faith.
  • One-Man Army: He fights through a whole horde of Flood by himself to retrieve the Index needed to activate Halo. Keep in mind that the SPARTANs barely survived their first encounter with them, which speaks levels of his skill.
  • Villainous Friendship: Implied. Upon finding a relic necessary in finding Halo, 'Kodomee remarks that it's a pity 'Thalashee couldn't be there to celebrate.
  • Villainous Valor: The Shipmaster leads a small splinter group in his holy war against humanity and has nowhere near the amount of resources as the Covenant, but was able to maintain a foothold on Earth for several years with just five ships and a few hundred soldiers, then nearly activate Halo just like Truth. Hell, he would have won had the firing array not been damaged.
  • We Have Reserves: He doesn't particularly care for the well being of his troops and happily sacrifices them in droves in the name of the Great Journey. By the climax, the Shipmaster has lost all of his forces save the Major, who's quickly dispatched by Saul anyway.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: He effortlessly beats both Saul and Katherine, but rather than killing them immediately, he indulges in villainous gloating that ends up costing 'Kodomee his life.

    Commander 'Thalashee

Commander 'Thalashee

"The will of the Shipmaster be done!"

Species: Sangheili

Appearances: Generation

Voiced by: Deldour

Shipmaster 'Kodomee's loyal second-in-command and the primary threat for Generation.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: By no means unskilled, but not quite on the Shipmaster's level. He primarily relies on his strength and power to get by.
  • Big Bad: While he's The Dragon for the Shipmaster, 'Thalashee is driving the plot and directly influencing the events of Generation, relegating 'Kodomee to Greater-Scope Villain status.
  • Brains and Brawn: Definitely the brawn to the Shipmaster's brains. He relies more on his strength than the Shipmaster, who rules through charisma and faith.
  • Defiant to the End: Even after he's lost all his forces and is now being held at gunpoint by five Spartans, 'Thalashee refuses to yield any information on his master, which ends in his death at Saul's hand.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: He's the main antagonist for Generation, but his defeat is only the first step in bringing down the Shipmaster.
  • The Dragon: He's Shipmaster 'Kodomee's second-in-command and The Heavy for Generation.
  • Evil Counterpart: For Saul. Both have their respective mentors (Harper and Grey for Saul and the Shipmaster for 'Thalashee), are often the driving characters in the plot, and the ones with the most direct conflict. 'Thalashee had a Villainous Friendship with the Shipmaster and their appeared to be a degree of trust between them, just as Harper trusted Saul.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Deldour gives him a very deep, growl of a voice.
  • The Heavy: He's acting on the Shipmaster's orders, which makes him into a high value target for the UNSC. Taking him down is the primary conflict of Generation.
  • Hero Killer: He kills Commander Harper and later Gabe.
  • It's Personal with the Dragon: He quickly makes things personal with Saul by killing Harper, and later Gabe, in front of him.
  • Starter Villain: He's the first major antagonist of the Spartan Legacy and is dealt with by the end of Generation, in order for the Spartans to face greater threats, such as the Shipmaster.
  • Undying Loyalty: To 'Kodomee. Even when being threatened with death, he doesn't relinquish his master's plan.
  • Villainous Friendship: It's implied he had one with Shipmaster 'Kodomee in Omega Halo. Upon finding a relic, 'Kodomee remarks that it's a pity he couldn't be there to celebrate.

Elites

"Truly, the gods are leading us upon this sacred path!"

Species: Sangheili

Appearances: Omega Halo

Voiced by: LaughingBlock

A pair of Honor Guards who serve as Shipmaster 'Kodomee's escorts.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: They're the Shipmaster's personal escorts, but if his skill is anything to go by, he hardly needs bodyguards.
  • Co-Dragons: After 'Thalashee's death, the Honor Guard become the Shipmaster's new enforcers.
  • Defiant to the End: One of the Honor Guards manages to survive his initial battle with the Spartans and returns to kill Sergeant Roberts, then scream defiantly as Saul blasts him with his SPARTAN laser as point blank range.
  • Elite Mooks: There's only two of them but they give the Spartans a tougher fight than the rank-in-file Elites they've killed in droves.
  • Large Ham: Only one of the Honor Guards speak but often yells with pious conviction befitting a religious fanatic.
  • Not Quite Dead: One of the Honor Guards survives his initial battle with the SPARTANs and returns to kill Roberts. Saul finishes him off for good with a SPARTAN laser blast to the face.
  • Praetorian Guard: They serve as 'Kodomee's protective detail and are naturally more skilled than their common brethren.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: They're the final obstacles standing between the Spartans and the Shipmaster, and they fight tooth and nail to keep them from breaching the sanctum. They pass anyway, but they go out swinging.
    The Major

Species: Sangheili

Appearances: Omega Halo

Voiced by: Fairfieldfencer

A Sangheili Major who serves the Shipmaster.
  • The Dragon: He takes over as 'Kodomee's second-in-command in Omega Halo.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: His voice is extremely deep, even moreso than 'Thalashee.
  • Flat Character: There's not much to him beyond being the Shipmaster's new lieutenant.
  • In the Back: Saul kills him by striking him from behind.
  • Mook Lieutenant: He's an Elite major who leads 'Kodomee's troops when the Shipmaster isn't present.
  • No Name Given: He's only referred to as the Major in the credits.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: He'd led multiple successful attacks on various UNSC encampments across Omega Halo, though we only ever see the aftermath of one of these assaults.
