It is one of a kind. No other community in the United States is known by the name “ALVO”. Early settlers had come to this area as early as 1869, they had established post-offices, school district and towns. The railroad was the main means of transportation , so towns were established along its lines.

Alvo reportedly received its name from the first child born after the community began to form around the depot. Her name was Alvo and she was the daughter of the railroad’s master.

The Host

My name is Brandy Jordan and I moved here with my husband and two young children in 2020. I’ve lived in Nebraska for over 20 years and having lived the majority of my life on the Prairie, I’m fond of calling this area home. Currently I’m enrolled at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln earning a Masters of Applied Science in Community Development where I am focusing on grant writing, Native communities, and rural law. Between our family, running a small business, being an absolute bibliophile who collects craft supplies and occasionally gets to make something fun, I also volunteer to various non-profits.

I started this website as a service that was much needed in our community. The village of Alvo does not own this web address, nor are public funds used for it’s maintenance or hosting. I do not represent the Board of Trustees nor the village, and I am not associated with any subgroups such as the Alvo Truth Group. The information published on this website is paid for by myself and sponsors, is edited by my self and other contributors as a free service provided to our community. Documentation provided on this page is public information and is provided from the village clerk through documented Open Record Requests. Video recordings of the Board Meetings are available, however, we ask that you subscribe for access at $3 per month billed annually for a total of $36. If you would like an explanation as to why this copyrighted material is no longer open-access, please take a look at our opening newsletter located here. Not only does it give you access to the videos, it will also provide you information as it is released including newsletters and timely information.
