We present the first checklist of mosasaur findings (Squamata: Mosasauroidea) from the Late Cretaceous of Chile. Almost all of the material collected so far come from different localities on the coast of central Chile, with a single locality in the southernmost part of the country, whose ages range from early to late Maastrichtian. The recovered material corresponds to isolated teeth and very fragmentary remains, making it difficult any taxonomic identification to genus or species level. However, we recognize the existence of at least two different morphotypes in central Chile, represented by taxon related to tylosaurine mosasaurs, and a taxon of small size, tentatively referred to the halisaurines. The only finding from southern Chile shows affinities to a common and abundant form from Antarctica, however, the latter is still poorly known. The findings presented here are discussed in terms of systematics and paleogeographic distribution, adding to the knowledge of the herpetofauna of the Weddellian Biogeographic Province.

In the dirge that closes Euripides’ Andromache the form κατάρξω (l. 1199) has been traditionally interpreted as a 1st sg. fut. act. (‘I will begin the funeral song for my dead master’). Allegedly, the chorus is taking on a leading role, which breaks genre conventions. This interpretation is problematic from the point of view of syntax and semantics. Difficulties disappear if κατάρξω is interpreted as a 2nd sg. aor. mid. with a Doric augment (‘you have begun the funeral ritual for my dead master’).

In this work, an extensive bibliographic review was carried out from records of the endemic and threatened lizard Liolaemus gravenhorstii which has few known localities. We used information from principal participants involved in the generation of knowledge from the scientific, citizen, private and governmental spheres. This objective was linked to a spatial analysis of biodiversity data to update and put into perspective both historical and current distribution records, including those confirmed by the herpetological community and potential records in a detailed map. In addition, comments are presented on its ecological aspects and diagnostic characters, as well as future research considerations that should be addressed to delimit more precisely the current distribution range of the species and estimate its population densities.
