Cestode plerocercoids associated with the pleuronectid flatfishes of the Kerala coast, India were reported
A survey of trawl by-catch of Kerala, south-west coast of India recorded the presence of 34 species of flatfishes (Order: Pleuronectiformes) classified under four families and 17 genera. The Khaki flounder Laeops natalensis Norman included under Bothidae is reported for the first time from the Indian coast. The soleid flatfish Aseraggodes umbratilis (Alcock) is recorded from Indian coast after the initial reports by Alcock in 1894 and 1899.

During the period from September 2010 till February 2012, a total of 218 specimens of the silver grunt Pomadasys argenteus were purchased from Al-Mehwat fish market at Hodeidah city, Yemen. Fish inspection revealed that 148 (67.9%) fishes were infected with at least one specimen of five larval metacestodes. These cestodes included four trypanorhynchids and one Tetraphyllid. The trypanorhynchids were represented by plerocercoids of four species: Callitetrarhynchus gracilis (Rudolphi, 1819), Callitetrarhynchus speciosus (Linton, 1897), Lacistorhynchus tenuis (van Beneden, 1858) and Pseudotobothrium dipsacum (Linton, 1897), while the tetraphyllid was represented by Scolex pleuronectis Müller, 1788. Details on parasitic indexes (prevalence, mean intensity and mean abundance of infection) and the infection sites (body cavity, stomach, liver, intestine, mesentery and stomach mucosa) for each larva were demonstrated. C. speciosus, L. tenuis and S. pleuronectis of the present investigation ...

In the present study, a tetraphylleadean larval cestode Scolex pleuronectis Müller, 1788 was determined in the intestine of shore rockling Gaidropsarus mediterraneus, Atlantic horse mackerel Trachurus trachurus, blotched picarel Spicara flexuosa, grass goby Zosterissesor ophiocephalus and round goby Neogobius melanostomus. Fish were collected by commercial fishermen in Sinop coasts of the Black Sea in April and May 2014. Infection prevalence and mean intensity values were determined as 12.5% and 2.00 ± 0.0 in shore rockling; 4.76% and 1.00 ± 0.0 in Atlantic horse mackerel; 20.0% and 6.80 ± 3.20 in botched picarel; 20.00% and 4.00 ± 0.0 in grass goby and, 1.44% and 55.00 ± 0.0 in round goby. Our results showed that this parasite species can be found widely at its larval stage in many bony fish species in the Black Sea.

STUDIES ON THE PREVALENCE AND SEASONAL VARIATION OF CESTODE PARASITES FROM FRESHWATER FISH, CLARIAS BATRACHUS (LINNEAUSThe present study deals with prevalence and seasonal variations of cestode parasite, Lytocestus vyasaei (Pawar, 2011) found to infect the fresh water fish, Clarias batrachus from Marathwada region of Maharashtra, during Dec. 2003 to Nov. 2005. The seasonal changes on the basis of incidence (prevalence) of infection in both the cycle prevalence was totally nil in rainy season, during the winter season incidence of infection was high as compared to summer season.
