Not many stands let you have 90 degree
I had not used MagSafe, but once Night Stand Mode came out, I felt compelled to try it. My main requirement was to have my phone in landscape mode standing vertical (90 degrees) so I could see it when I lay in bed. My phone is about eye level while I am laying down. I found that very few stands satisfied this requirement, but this one did. In fact I can even get away with pointing it so that it faces down and the magnet seems strong enough to keep it attached, but not so strong that it is hard to detach.At the time I ordered this, I also ordered an OtterBox Defender XT Case for iPhone 13 Pro Max but unfortunately I was send the size down so I had to return it. Before the return I tried the empty case on this stand and found that the camera stand out made it almost unusable. This concerned me and I was left wondering if I should return it, but instead I asked the following question.Does this case work with OtterBox Defender XT Case for iPhone 13 Pro Max ? I know camera area is in the way on a smaller otterbox version.I got one answer saying "Unfortunately, I don't own an Otterbox Defender XT case to know if it works or not." and another saying "If you lay it flat". I wish Amazon would get rid of answers like the first one,which add no value! The second answer is wrong, or at least misleading! This stand works very well with the OtterBox Defender XT Case for iPhone 13 Pro Max and the camera area does not get in the way at all. Yes, it would work if you lay it flat, but there is no reason to. I don't see people using this model laying flat anyway as it does not lay flat properly like the later model does.My biggest complaint about this stand is that it was so hard to decide which model to get as the differences are quite subtle and not well explained. I was torn between KU XIU X55 and KU XIU X40. I ordered the X55 first, buy found a great YouTube video showing a comparison of them side by side. (Sorry, I can't share as Amazon has always blocked my reviews that include YouTube links!). After watching the comparison, I cancelled the X55 and ordered the X40.I believe the following statements are true.1) X40 is this one2) X40 is older model, X55 is newer model.3) X40 = ~$70, X55 = ~$504) X40 does not truly lay flat, X55 lays flat properly5) X40 is Aluminum Alloy, X55 is Plastic6) X40 holds watch higher (top of hole), X55 holds watch lower (bottom of hole)7) X40 cable on back at right, X55 cable on right at backI chose X40 for 5, 6, 7I wish I could buy this for less money without the charger brick.
