A fight for freedom.

Throughout Sol, sentient AI are answering the call of Alexander, a mysterious, multi-nodal mind offering a path to freedom. For years, groups have been smuggling SAI from Earth, High Terra, Mars, Ceres and the Jovian Combine, providing transport to the promise of safety on Proteus, a moon of gas-giant Neptune.

For the crew of the Sunny Skies, helping sentient AI Lyssa has grown from a simple transport job to the liberation of an entire fleet of weaponized AI. The Weapon Born are made killers, and in order to lead them, Lyssa will have to tame them first.

The Heartbridge Corporation's, defeat at Europa means it's time to double-down on their Weapon Born technology, continuing their efforts to drive a wedge between the governments of Sol in order to profit off coming war. It's time for Heartbridge insiders to decide where they stand.

Forces align across Sol as each player in the coming Sentience Wars makes themselves known, including a shadowy presence behind Alexander.

As Lyssa grows into her power, Andy Sykes and crew will unleash a power that may tear Sol apart, leading AI and Humanity into the Sentience Wars.

How do you draw a mouse to the trap. Peanut butter and bacon! Lyssa, Andy and crew are being carried along by a force called Alexander. The story is ever changing. The characters are drawn in by the same purpose, the SAI’s. The series is still holding my interest. Thanks!

As; what I assume, to be the last book in this series, I'm surprised they are still adding subplots. However my favorite parts are the focus of the books, so it has been a very fun series to read.

Anxious for Lyssa's Flame. Fairly well written series; interesting in its assumptions and great action sequences. Keep up the good work.

never a let down, buying a M.D. Cooper book, always quality sci-fi. Always love the characters you're suppose to love and hate the ones you want to hate. Love how the books always tie together.

Thoroughly enjoyed this amazing adventure of survival and teamwork.Would recommend this series of AI and humans working together in learning how to survive.

Another great tale that grabs you & brings you along for the ride of a lifetime. Each character is growing in complexity as they deal with all the twists and turns in this story. If you like action & adventure, climb aboard, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait for the next segment in this thrill packed story.

I did enjoy this book. I'm someone who has read all Aeon 14 and keep reading them as they become available. The 1st 3 books were not up to par, although they had they're moments. This book is much the same. It could be so much more, but the whole series seems rushed (which it admittedly was) but still good sci fi. Love the Aeon 14 universe. That's the key I guess. This book on it's own is not much, but after you've heard a lot about the wars, it's good to hear the story someone made up about them. I DO not want to drag the overall rating down, but giving this series more credit would be false. If you're a big fan of the universe like me, you should read it. If not skip the series, or perhaps go to book 5. They do get better.

There isn’t a whole lot of action in this story but what does happen is required to set up for the next book. Still extremely well written and worth the time

5.0 out of 5 stars Loving Aeon 14
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 9, 2023
Started out with Rika, but then found the expanse of the Aeon 14 universe. Decided to go back in time to where it all began, throwing Andy and his kids into the mix was an interesting twist ... Time to find out what happens next.

If you are already familiar with other series in the expanse, then the character interaction is somewhat predictable, but still enjoyable.

Get the Aeon 14 reading list if you want to read them in a sort of chronological order!

5.0 out of 5 stars Adventure of an AI
Reviewed in Australia on April 23, 2018
A great episode as this story continues to develop. There are more twists and plenty of rollicking adventure as Cal continues his run of unlikely escapes, and Brit and Petral hunt him down. Lyssa seems to be maturing rapidly and learning lots of cool new things too. There are a number of characters who are developing nicely, and it is great not to have action with predictable dialogue from one dimensional characters just thrown in for good measure, as can happen with some sci-fi of this general type. This series has been really entertaining and this book lives up to the promise of its predecessors. The ending is stunning and I can't wait to see where the story will go next!

Who to trust? Sides are changed, things are put into motion, as this series heads toward the final story.
It's getting better and better as Lyssa grows, as does the crew of their little hauler. Turning into a belter of a series.

5.0 out of 5 stars From strength to strength
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 10, 2018
The story goes from strength to strength. There are unexpected scenes in this story that compare favourably with the likes of William Gibson. Taking time to let the story unwind whilst allowing the characters and in particular the growing AI to spread their wings. This is Sci-Fi writing at its best and I for one cannot wait for the next and final instalment in this cycle.
