Some of these keyboard apps are really well-known, such as Gboard and Swiftkey. Others, not so much. Typewise, for example, offers a completely new experience when it comes to typing, and Fleksy is not far from it either. Chrooma can be great for those of you who love Gboard, but would love more customization options, and so on. There are some really interesting apps included here.

Gboard is probably the best keyboard app for most users. This app comes straight from Google, and it’s truly great. It not only has one of the most accurate text prediction algorithms. That goes for regular typing and autocorrect, and the so-called ‘Glide Typing’, as Google calls it. You can type using one hand and by dragging your fingers from one letter to the next, in order to create a sentence.
That’s not all, though. Gboard has support for tons of languages, and it also supports Voice Typing, if that’s something you need. On top of that, Handwriting support is included, as is emoji search, and GIFs. In case you’d like to type using two languages at the same time, you can do that as well. Google Translate comes built-in here. This app has a lot to offer, and it’s completely free.
SwiftKey

SwiftKey is likely the best app for Windows users, but it’s also a great alternative to Gboard in general. This app also features excellent text prediction, some would even say better than Gboard, but that’s up to discussion. The app does support themes, and it will learn as you go, similar to Google’s offering. This app also supports the swipe-to-type option, though it’s not called ‘Glide Typing’ here.
Emoji and GIFs are supported, while you can also personalize this keyboard a bit. Autocorrect here is great, and the app supports over 400 languages. It’s safe to say that SwiftKey stands right next to Gboard as one of the best keyboard apps for Android. It may not have as many features, but the ones it does have, work truly great. You’ll need to give SwiftKey a bit of time to learn your typing, similar to Gboard, before it can truly shine.
Fleksy

Fleksy is a bit different compared to Gboard and SwiftKey. This app did not support swipe typing until recently, but that has been included in a beta state. The app comes with some interesting gestures that you can take advantage of. You’ll tap-to-type, but those gestures can make the whole experience feel far more fluid. For example, you can swipe left to delete a word, or swipe right to insert a space.
You can also get access to “mini-apps” on your keyboard. Those mini-apps let you access memes, GIFs, stickers, and more. There are six keyboard sizes you can choose from, while speech-to-text input is also supported. Four keyboard sounds are at your disposal, while you can customize Fleksy’s spell-check. You can personalize this keyboard as well, its color, font, key press sound, etc.
Typewise

Typewise offers a truly different way of typing. This keyboard app will probably seem quite odd to you once you start using it, but if you get used to it, it may change your way of typing altogether. The company claims that you can get 4x fewer typos once you get used to it, and type 33-percent faster. I, personally, haven’t been able to get used to this keyboard, though I haven’t used it for that long. You may be able to do so.
This keyboard offers a honeycomb-like design, it’s not your standard qwerty keyboard, though you can opt for that one as well. Typewise is made for typing with two thumbs, by the way. There are 19 colorful themes that you can choose from, and this app works 100-percent offline, privacy is extremely important to the company. With this app, you’ll also be required to use gestures. You can swipe up to capitalize a letter, swipe left to delete it, or swipe right to restore it. Smart autocorrect is supported, and so on.
Chrooma Keyboard

Chrooma is yet another great keyboard for Android, and a great alternative to Gboard. This app actually resembles Google’s keyboard quite a bit, but it offers you some interesting theming options. This app can adapt its color to the app you’re using. So, if you’re using Facebook, it will mimic the blue color of the app, if you’re using YouTube, for example, it will be red.
The company claims this keyboard offers really compelling text prediction, and it is really good in that regard. The app’s “neural action row” does offer some utility as well, while you can access emoji and GIFs via this keyboard. The app does rely on gestures, similar to Gboard. You can also activate a one-hand mode easily, while the app does allow for a split layout mode, and multilanguage typing as well.
Grammarly

Grammarly Keyboard is a keyboard app that comes from the same company that made an online grammar-checking tool. This service, Grammarly, is well-known across the globe, and the company’s app also managed to become quite popular. Truth be said, it’s not one of the highest-rated around, but a 4.2-star rating is not bad at all. This app does have a lot to offer on the grammar side of things, of course.
Do note that not all of its features are free, though, similar to the web tool. The app will provide you with writing suggestions in all your apps, which is not something you can get with other keyboard apps. It will help you fix grammar and spelling mistakes, while it will also help you find synonyms for words. On top of all that, with Grammarly Keyboard, you’ll be able to reduce the wordiness of your messages, emails, or whatever else you’re writing. Kika Keyboard puts a great focus on emoji, stickers, and GIFs, while it’s also a great choice if you love theming. This app comes with over 6,000 free themes, which is, needless to say, a lot. There are also over 5,000 emoji that you can choose from. Theming doesn’t stop there, though. The app also allows you to change its fonts, there are quite a few that you can choose from.
You can personalize the app’s keyboard color, and also key press sound. If you’d like, you can even choose your own image and place it as the background of this keyboard. Slide input option is available, while this is also a bilingual keyboard. You can choose between over 150 languages here, and a ton of keyboard layouts. You can even send clip art by using Kika Keyboard.
Facemoji

Facemoji Keyboard, as its name says, is heavily focused on emojis… and stickers. In this app, you’ll find over 5,000 emoji, and a ton of stickers and emoticons. You’ll get access to GIFs as well, and the same goes for a number of stylish themes. This app also allows you to set a custom image as the keyboard background. You can customize Facemoji’s buttons, colors, fonts, tapping effects, tapping sound, and so on.
You’ll get access to over 1,500 themes if you decide to use Facemoji. Kaomoji are also supported, and so on. This app does support swipe tying, and it has autocorrect built-in. The app can auto-translate to over 25 languages, and you can switch between languages easy, by using the space bar. The developer also says that it doesn’t collect any personal information without your explicit permission.
Simple Keyboard

Simple Keyboard may be the least known keyboard on the least, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth checking out. If you’re looking for a truly simple app that looks good, this may be a great choice for you. It doesn’t really bring any extra features that many others do, but many people don’t need nor want such features. This app is really small, by the way, it weighs less than 1MB, so it’s great for lower-end devices.
The app does offer an adjustable keyboard height, and it does allow you to swipe the space bar to move the pointer. That is a feature that any other keyboards have, keyboards such as Gboard and Chrooma. There are some themes that you can choose from, and they simply change the color of your keyboard. There are no ads included in this app, and a spell checker is included, as is swipe typing. Yes, the keyboard does support both emoji and GIFs.
