Xavier forward Lazar Djokovic has entered the transfer portal

Plenty of playing time will be available this season.

First, the news:

Well rats. Most of Xavier's movement in the portal has been predictable and fairly painless, but this one stings a bit. Djokovic didn't light up the stat line on a regular basis all season, but he shrugged off an injury from early on to grow into a role late on. In Xavier's last four games, he averaged 6.3/6.3/2. He didn't shoot it especially well, but for a 6'10" freshman, he demonstrated a tantalizing skill set.

Djokovic's whole arc at Xavier is emblematic of a season that will likely be considered as something of a loss the whole way around. In the span of sixish months, he went from complete unknown to projectable future piece to almost certainly gone. He ran the gamut from pariah to fan favorite and everything in between during that span.

Sean Miller said that he doesn't believe that God will allow Jerome Hunter and Zach Freemantle to lose time to injuries this coming season. Full credit to him, he's putting his money where his mouth is by clearing out the rest of the traffic in the frontcourt. Xavier has a handful of scholarships available and plenty of work to do in the portal.
