Daylilies are one of the best perennials for adding color to your garden. According to the American Daylily Society, there are nearly 89,000 registered cultivars of daylilies. Modern hybrid daylilies have come a long way from the wild types from which they’ve been bred. These days they’re available in colors ranging from near-whites, pastels, yellows, oranges, pinks, reds, crimson, purple, nearly true-blue, and color blends. The only colors that are unavailable are pure white and pure blue.

These easy-to-grow perennials require very little care and grow in all types of landscapes. Even though each flower lasts only one day, there are many flower buds on each daylily flower stalk and many stalks in each clump of plants, so a single daylily plant usually blooms over several weeks. Many cultivars even have more than one flowering period. This list includes some of the best daylilies to grow in your garden, highly rated for their outstanding blooms and performance by the American Daylily Society and other organizations.
