A superb tree once established, Magnolia campbellii 'Lanarth' has huge vibrant purple-pink, goblet-shaped flowers in early Spring once established. Large and dark green leaves.

Unusual and beautiful, this Magnolia is at risk of frost damage as it flowers early in Spring and is most suited to a South west or west facing position in sun or light, dappled shade sheltered from strong winds. 


  • Position: Sheltered in full sun or partial shade.
  • Soil: Well drained, fertile soil. Prefers lime free soil.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Flowering Period: March - April.
  • Flower Colour: Purple-pink
  • Rate of Growth: Moderate to vigorous.
  • Habit:  Magnolia campbellii 'Lanarth'  grows to be a  small  branching tree. 
    • Height: up to 4 - 5 m (13 - 16 ft).
    • Spread: 3 m (10 ft).
