Getting to know…Jarrad Page

At my previous job, a weekly in-season feature called “Getting to Know…” was a personal favorite. It’s a chance to spend a few minutes with players and ask about more than their position and stats, and I’m happy it’s making a comeback. We’ll post a new one here every Sunday morning.

One of the Patriots’ newest faces might be asked to do quite a bit on the field while he’s still learning the ins and outs of the playbook off it. Safety Jarrad Page, acquired in a trade with Kansas City just over a week ago, may help fill the void left by Brandon McGowan after McGowan was placed on injured reserve with a torn pectoral. The 25-year old was a seventh-round pick of the Chiefs out of UCLA in 2006. With the Bruins, the California native wasn’t just a standout defensive back, he was also an outfielder on the baseball team and was good enough to have been drafted three times in Major League Baseball’s amateur draft (Milwaukee, 2002; Colorado, 2005; Los Angeles, 2006).

Favorite TV show: Now that “24” went off the air, I’d probably say “Dexter.” I like that a lot.

Favorite meal:
Turkey burgers. I don’t really eat red meat.

Prized possession: If my son (Jarrad Jr. is 8 1/2 months) is a possession, I’d say him. I’d be lost without my PS3 – I play a lot of other sports (not Madden), “MLB 10: The Show” and “Call of Duty” is another big one.

First job: The Kansas City Chiefs.

Favorite athlete in another sport: Allen Iverson. That was my favorite player growing up.

My heroes: My parents and brother; just my family. My brother is 10 years older than me, and I followed in his footsteps to UCLA. (John Edward Page received certification from the NFLPA and serves as his brother’s agent. Jarrad believes that his brother works harder for him than another agent, with a number of clients, might.)

Last concert attended: Anthony Hamilton in L.A., about a month ago.

Place I want to visit but haven’t: Africa. I just want to see where my ancestors are from, check it out.

If they made a movie of my life…Denzel would play me. It doesn’t matter (that Washington is over twice Page’s age) – he’s an actor. It would be a drama and comedy, a little bit of both.
