The man hit and killed by a train Monday afternoon in an area south of Biggs has been identified as 51-year-old Eloy Sandoval of Gridley.

The Butte County Coroner’s Office released Sandoval’s identity Thursday.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday, authorities received a phone call from a Union Pacific Railroad train conductor who stated a pedestrian had been struck by the train.

Sandoval was struck by the train in the area north of the Hastings Avenue and Sixth Street intersection.
