What will it take to work as a Medical Technologist in the U.S.?
To work in the USA as a Medical Technologist all states will require you to have one of two certifications, from either the:
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or;
American Medical Technologist (AMT).
The ASCP and the AMT allows graduates of medical laboratory science programs outside of the U.S. to take the national certification exam. This ensures that they are competent as MT practitioners to official U.S. standards.

A Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biological Science or Chemistry.
One year of experience working as a Medical Technologist taking medical samples and performing clinical testing; resolving technical problems or conducting routine laboratory maintenance.
Certification by either ASCP or AMT.
