MATERIALS:
- Cotton or jute yarn
- Wooden stick
- Scissors
INSTRUCTIONS:
Larks head knot :
To make this knot, measure and cut about one metre of yarn. Fold the yarn over itself to form a loop. Pass the loop behind your wooden stick. Take both ends of the yarn and pass them through the loop. Tighten around the stick.
Spiral knot :
The spiral knot is very simple to make. Like in the first knot, measure and cut about one metre of yarn. Repeat to have two threads. Make a larks head knot with each of the threads and position the two knots next to each other on the stick. Grasp the left-end thread and pass it over the two middle threads, but under the right-end thread. Then grasp the right-end thread and pass it under the two middle threads to pull it out over the left-end thread. Tighten and repeat until completed, starting each knot with the left-end thread.
Square knot :
To start a square knot, repeat the spiral knot steps. Add a second spiral knot after the first, starting your knot this time with the right-end thread. Continue by alternating; one spiral knot with the left-end thread, one spiral knot with the right-end thread, and so on.
Half hitch knot :
Measure and cut about one metre of yarn. Make a larks head knot on the wooden stick. Take the left-end thread and pass it over the right-end thread to form a "four." Run the left-end thread under the right-end thread to bring it out inside the "four" you formed. Tighten and repeat until completed.

TIPS:
- A tightly stretched rope thread can be used instead of a wooden stick
- For a more uniform macramé, be sure to tighten the knots evenly.
