Disney newest sensation Encanto has taken the world by storm, and there's plenty of speculation as to the many elements of the movie that make up the full story.
The movie centres on the Madrigal family, who are all blessed with magic in a place hidden in the mountains of Colombia. The only person who doesn't have the unique gift the sentient house – Casa Madrigal – bestows is Mirabel, played by Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Stephanie Beatriz.
Mirabel sets out on a quest to save the magic of the Casa when she discovers that something is threatening it and her family.

Like many other Disney films, it has an amazing heroine who will do whatever she can to save her family – while at the same time feeling at odds with them and left out of the magic that connects them.
However, there is one little detail from Encanto that you might have missed in relation to Mirabel's feelings of separation and ostracisation.
Director of Encanto, Byron Howard, spoke to Empire Magazine about Mirabel and, in particular, the song she sings: 'Waiting on a Miracle'.

While fans may simply think it's a lovely song, one thing about it speaks directly to how Mirabel feels – out of step with her family – as the song is out of rhythm to every other song in Encanto.
"It's not your typical 'I want' song. It's a very angsty confession, something she hasn't shared with anyone – it's completely private when this happens. There's a Colombian song style called 'bambuco', which is in three-quarter time. It's literally in a different rhythm than every other song in the film," Howard said.
Encanto is available to watch now on Disney+.
