DeEtta Pierce Harrison departed this earthly life on Sunday February 18, 2024 on the 10th year anniversary of her husband Martin’s death at the home of her daughter in Harvey, La. at the age of 97. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and baptized by Reverend Houston Pierce. She was a member at Asbury United Methodist Church for over forty years where she served as a steward until her health declined.
DeEtta was married to Martin A. Harrison, Jr. for sixty-seven years. To this union were eight children. She worked with Orleans Parish Police Department at Paul B Habans, and Dwight D, Eisenhower as a School Crossing Guard for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents Pearl and Arthur Pierce, her two sons Martin A Harrison, III and Kenneth P, Harrison Sr., three grandchildren Kelia, Tier and Kenneth P. Harrison Jr,. One great-grandchild Dave (DoeBoy) Harrison. Three sisters Edith P. Lewis, Doretha P. Johnson, Audrey P. Gracin, and four brothers, Lawrence, Arthur, Frank, and Alfred Pierce. Three sons in law Launey Earl Rivers, Green Carter, and Nathaniel Moran Sr. Five sisters in law Ceola and Delores Pierce, Althea H. Brown, Rosemary H. Rose, and Sarah H. Williams, and three brothers in law Ernest, Eddie, and Charlie Harrison.
She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters Rosemary Harrison Rivers, Diane Carter, Judith Moran, and Gilda H. Baham, two sons Jeffery and Michael Harrison. Twenty-eight grandchildren, Forty-seven great grandchildren, and twenty-six great-great grandchildren. One Daughter in law Laura Lee Adams and Godchild Larman Sparkman. Two sisters in law Mary and Shirley Pierce, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family and friends.
Second Baptist, Second Nazarene are invited to attend the services at Asbury United Methodist Church located at 2725 Ernest Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70131 on Saturday March 2, 2024. Viewing is from 9:00 to 10:00am service immediately following. Reverend K.C Roberson officiating.
