James (Ken) Ellis, Sr, 95 years of age, passed away peacefully at home in Canyon Lake, Texas on September 17, 2019. He was born in Cardiff, Pennsylvania, son of the late James T. and Margaret (Mahan) Ellis. He was preceded in death by loving wife, Martha J. (McPhee) Ellis, his son, Terry Ellis, two grandchildren, Jimmy Joe and Catherine Ellis and three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by three children, Beverly (Douglas) Steuver, James K (Donyale) Ellis, Jr. and John (Dana) Ellis. Also survived by two brothers, Donald (Donna) and Thomas (Margaret) Ellis and two sisters, Gloria (Edward) Frederick and Valery Ellis. He had 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
He served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Cincinnati. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Coal mines. He was a life member of the VFW Post 8800. He held many offices at the Post, District and State levels. He was a member of the Canyon Lake Masonic Lodge #1425. He was also a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Canyon Lake.
The memorial service will be held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church located at 7420 FM 2673, Canyon Lake, Texas 78133 at 1:00 pm on September 28, 2019.
Inurnment will follow, with military honors, at Cranes Mill Cemetery.
He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather (Pap) and brother and will be remembered for his love and many acts of kindness.
