Director Frank Capra and his two stars, Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert, stole hearts and a quintet of Oscars with this sparkling, legendary romantic comedy. IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT is based on the story "Night Bus" by Samuel Hopkins Adams, and it follows a news reporter and a runaway heiress who fall in love while traveling cross country on a bus. But as with any classic, the film is more than the sum of its parts, and special attention should be paid to the fizzy chemistry between the two leads and the witty script from Robert Riskin. This screwball comedy was the first to take home all five major Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor--Clark Gable, Best Actress--Claudette Colbert, and Best Adapted Screenplay.

    It happened one night

    It was a great romance. A bit silly,but it was a comedy so it was supposed to be. I love Clark Gable!! It is an old classic my mom wanted and I watched it before I gave it to her.If you like romantic comedies you'd love this one! They seem like such an odd match,but then you're wanting them together at the end.They argue almost the whole time!

    Favorite Classic

    I never knew about this movie until I watched it on television. This movie just caught my attention because Clark Gable was so funny with certain things he does in this movie. It's a great romantic movie in a decent way. Back then those movies were great for the whole family. My daughter who is 6 enjoys it with me. I just love it. It's a must see.

    Fantastic!

    This is a very good movie! I want it on DVD. Outstanding movie. I loved it. It's easy to see why both stars won Academy Awards. Clark Gable rocks this movie. It is a funny, clever piece of cinema. A film that everyone should see!!!

    I like Clark Gable and enjoy old movies.

    I like old movies and Clark Gable. The only thing I disliked was that it was in black and white. In the area where I live our cable TV channel does not show old movies like this. You have to pay an extra monthly fee to see them. WHY pay when I can buy it and watch it whenever I like. The movie was in good condition.
