Kodak's EasyShare DX3500 system aims to make digital photography easy

Kodak is intending to take photography to the next level with the launch of the Kodak EasyShare system - giving consumers direct and immediate access to digital picture sharing. By joining the capabilities of the digital camera and computer, the EasyShare system is claimed to be the ultimate user-friendly solution for anyone who takes pictures.
At the heart of the EasyShare system is the Camera Dock. The new line of DX series digital cameras make it simpler than ever before to transfer, edit and share digital images with family and friends anywhere in the world.

The Camera Dock performs numerous labour intensive function simply by docking the camera after use. With a press of a button you can automatically download images to the computer, open the software and clean the images from the internal memory - all in an instant.
What's more, the Camera Dock simultaneously recharges the batteries, ready to capture the next spontaneous moment. Users are then able to print images, either at home or using the Print@Kodak service - and email with the click of a mouse.
'The Kodak EasyShare system brings a solution to consumers who want maximum ease of use,' says Damian Dinning, Senior Product Marketing Manager. 'By making it extremely simple for anyone to enjoy digital photography, we believe we will grow the market significantly in 2001.'
The Kodak EasyShare system features the DX series digital cameras - initially the Kodak DX3500 Digital Camera and the Kodak DX3600 Zoom Digital Camera, together with the camera dock. Future models of Kodak consumer digital cameras will also be incorporated within the EasyShare system.
Features of the system include:
" Picture Transfer: By simply pressing the button, the Camera Dock automatically transfers the pictures into the computer within seconds, avoiding the need to fuss with connecting cables or loading memory cards into reading devices. Consumers no longer face a mystery of how to get their pictures out of the camera.
" Picture Management... They system lets you organise your picture automatically into folders the way you want them - by date, name or event. It also allows you to automatically delete all pictures on the camera after they are transferred to a computer.
" Picture Sharing: The Kodak Picture Software incorporated into the EasyShare system lets you email, view, edit or print with ease.
" Power: The camera is powered and recharged in the dock less than two and a half hours from a fully exhausted state, which automatically prepares the camera for further use.

The Kodak DX3500 digital camera, priced at 299, and the DX3600 Zoom digital camera, priced at 349, are the first two digital camera models compatible with Kodak's EasyShare system. With their 2.2 megapixel resolution, both cameras produce images suitable for emailing or printing on an inkjet printer up to around 8x10 inches.
Both cameras offer 8Mb of internal memory, so you've always got 'film' loaded. For more pictures, there is an expansion slot for removable CompactFlash memory cards. The DX3500 features a 3x digital zoom, auto white balance, and close-up ode that are designed to deliver better pictures. The DX3600 Zoom features a 2x optical and 3x digital zoom.
The Camera Dock, supplied with the cameras, includes a rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack and AC adaptor. It connects via USB, so it's always ready for your camera to upload and recharge. The DX3500 will be available in May and the DX3600 Zoom in July.
