The province of Nadroga-Navosa yesterday witnessed a milestone achievement with the opening of the newly renovated Vunahalu two-storey building.

The project worth $2million is owned by the Nadroga/Navosa Corporation Ltd.

The building, formerly known as CS Patel, was acquired by the company in 1997.

Officiating at the opening in Sigatoka yesterday, Tourism, Civil Aviation and Education Minister Viliame Gavoka said Vunahalu House was a testament to the journey of the Nadroga/ Navosa Corporation.

“This event goes beyond unveiling a meticulously renovated structure,” he said. “It marks a celebration of resilience, unity, and shared aspirations.

“This building is more than bricks and mortar; it symbolises the unwavering commitment of the people of Nadroga and Navosa.”

Mr Gavoka said as a former director of the company, he had witnessed the challenging yet inspirational journey of the corporation.

“Vunahalu House is not just the triumph of its founding directors.

“It’s the victory of every individual contributing to the corporation’s success, a symbol of community spirit, collaboration, and shared vision.”

Mr Gavoka said the Government remained committed to empowering indigenous people to create opportunities for economic growth and prosperity.

“The inauguration of Vunahalu House aligns with this vision, representing what we can achieve when empowering our people to overcome economic challenges.”

The building has a Hot Bread Kitchen outlet on the first floor and office spaces are expected to be rented out to businesses in the Sigatoka community.
