A total of 13 secondary schools are taking part in the 2020 Coca Cola Nadroga/Navosa athletics zone meet underway at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
Schools taking part are Lomawai Secondary School, Ratu Lalabalavu College, Kavanagasau College, Thomas Baker Memorial School, Nawai Secondary School, Nadroga Arya College, Sigatoka Valley High School, St. Theresa College, Navosa Central College, Nasikawa Vision College, Sigatoka Andhra Sangam College, Sigatoka Methodist College and Cuvu College.
Some 832 athletes are participating in the two-day event competing in 102 events.
Sigatoka Methodist College boasts the biggest contingent with 133 athletes.
Cuvu College has 128 athletes and Nasikawa Vision College brought 98 athletes.
The march past was led by the Nasikawa Vision College brass band yesterday.
The ‘rugby county’ experienced showers over the two days, and cooler conditions are being experienced; it is a different story on the track and field events though with intense heat being felt because of the rivalry between the schools.
Cuvu College is the defending boy’s champion and Sigatoka Methodist College is the reigning champion in the girl’s category.
The meet concludes later in the afternoon.
