The Tillandsia is a family of Bromeliads and has more than 400 species. It is one of the most Instagrammed plants today! The name comes from the Swedish botanist Elia Tillands, who, like the Tillandsia, hated water. The plants are native to the forests, deserts and mountains of South and Central America. Almost all Tillandsia are epiphytes, that is, they have little or no roots but grow on trees or rocks. Water and nutrients are absorbed from the air by the scales on the leaves, which is why Tillandsias are often called air plants.
Care
When the Tillandsia is in a living room or office, they only need to be sprayed with water occasionally. In damp rooms, such as a bathroom or kitchen, the Tillandsia grows on its own. With a little love and moist air, you'll bring a beautiful piece of nature into your home. The possibilities with air plants are endless, and they are often used for creative purposes.
