hi, i bought this fragrance not too long ago, and at first it just smelled like mosquito repellent to my nose, but after letting it dry i started to appriciate the bergamot. After maybe 3hrs i started to smell the musk as a kind of sweet sweat kind of thing idk how to explain it but i kinda like it. I blind bought this fragrance and luckily it was a hit, i recommend you not to blindbuy this fragrance. I love this fragrance but i do not suggest you to buy this if your new to fragrances because i feel like you will not be able to appriciate the full scent.

Gorgeous opening, single greatest dry down I've smelt

People are so dramatic when it comes to this house. It’s not a blind buy, but it’s certainly not in any way offensive or unpleasant. In fact, it’s fantastic. You just have to like citrus fragrances.

It’s citrus forward but the real artistry comes with how it all blends on the dry down. It’s still incredibly bright from the bergamot but there’s a woody/musky base that carries it all home. Imagine a bitter orange rind mixed with dry, sun bleached wood.

It’s simple but elegant. In my opinion it’s actually much more wearable than megamare. The silage and longevity is incredible but it’s not as overwhelming and bulky.

Love it.

Wow! This is easily my favorite fragrance from Gaultieri's Orto Parisi line. It opens up with a gorgeous musky citrus that retains the "spiciness" that I find all Parisi fragrances have. In comparison to other Parisi fragrances, I find this to be the most wearable and the most basic, but still smells refined and like something from Alessandro Gaultieri.
This is refined, mature, sharp and spicy citrus that's grounded by some Tonka and Cedar.
Easily a 9/10 and my highest rated, most wearable, most appealing Orto Parisi fragrance.

Sharp, synthetic, professional and fatiguing. This fragrance lingers in the worst way tiring my nose. Maybe I received a bad batch.

benjamin69

This is one of the most beautiful and artistic fragrances in my collection

The oppening smells slightly acidic and vivid orange like to me, it really takes me to a scene of a bright summer day under an orange tree in a big grassy field, then once the musk part comes in it gets a slightly sweaty undertone, to me, it makes me feel as if a dog has come to sit with me under the tree. A sweaty smell obviously appears to be a bad adjective especially for a fragrance but for me it just works. Overall the scent is an artistic masterpiece that really encapsulates the art perfumery can posses.

On the other hand, this is unwearable😭😭🙏 this really pains me as nobody else smells the heavenly scent this has, though it makes sense as this is definitely not an accessible smell, my mum and sister described it as an old Indian persons house, and I can slightly see it if I really imagine as it has a slight spiceness if you search for it, but overall not really. This stuff is also NUCLEAR, one spray would fill a whole room further insulting peoples noses if I wore this. Many people have said this is one of Orto parisis mass apealing scents but I really don’t see it.

Overall:
Scent:10/10 (NOT massapleaing or blind buy tho)

the first 5 mins made me gag. i gave it some time tho (it was worth it). after half an hour, it was still horrible. but, after around 1 hour, it turned into this extremely beautiful creamy bergamot. no sweat, no "acidic cleaning supplies", just creamy goodness. i loved it, projected AWESOME. but i am definitely not suffering that first hour everytime i apply it... so, not a buy for me

Presentscents

Interesting citrus with a unique musk and sandalwood facets! This isn't your typical citrus as the musk is right behind the bergamot in terms of power. This leaves a really interesting silage that kind of reminds me of Baraonda oddly enough but smells nothing alike up close. Perhaps its the high concentration of javonal? Regardless I have really fell in love with this fragrance for its uniqueness and ease of wear! A great warm weather signature

Bodya86368

Quite a basic fragrance, at least not what I expected from this one. Smells good, but really boring for a niche company like Orto Parisi. Smells like soft and sweat citrus. Reminds me of something like Dior Homme Cologne, but of course, Bergamask is much more unique because of that sweat note, hard to describe that weird note, but you will understand what I mean when you try it. Alright maybe I started my review not good because now you probably think I don't like it at all, but that's not what I mean, Bergamask good citrus fragrance, but I don't understand why I should spend money on it when I can get Terre D'hermès or Dior homme cologne (yeah I know Bergamask not really the same like Terre D'hermès or D.H cologne, but those two perfumes are much cheaper, so I'd rather buy myself one of them and a Boccanera with the money і saved). I would recommend you to get Bergamask only if you want citrus fragrance which projects amazing, this is the only thing in which Bergamask is the best among all other pure citruses. Okay, maybe I should write a little bit more about scent. So Bergamask smells citrusy but that citrus scent mixed with something weird, I can't describe it, but I can agree with people who think it's sweat notes. Sweaty notes sound way better than I thought because that note smells like I expected, maybe the citrus&sweat combination makes that soft smell, smells basic and unique at the same time.
Conclusion: Best performance among all citrus fragrances, maybe a little bit overpriced, unique (yeah I think it's more unique than ordinary fragrance), Not bad at all, but I prefer other fragrances in this fragrance line, so I wrote a lot bad about it because this is not what I expected from this Orto Parisi fragrance.

I love this fragrance, the citrus in this perfume is crazy good, but if you think buying this fragrance, TEST IT FIRST. Never buy an Orto Parisi fragrance without smelling it.

Russell August

The brand’s reputation and many of the Bergamask reviews might lead you to believe that this is a challenging fragrance. It is not. While no fragrance with any personality will please everyone, I believe that Bergamask will appeal to most people.

I just bought this a week ago in Rome, and I have worn it every day since. The weather has been cool spring mornings and evenings, and (not too) warm afternoons. I have worn this in my office meetings in the day, and then again on my walks out for dinners with colleagues in the evenings. It has worked equally well in both situations. I usually wait until I have had more wearings to review, but I feel that this week has given me sufficient experience to know that I love this fragrance.

The first impression upon the initial spray is a very strong bergamot colored by a beautiful lavender. The lavender prevents the bergamot from smelling like a classic Italian citrus. It is subsequently a somewhat warmer version of bergamot, but very nice just the same. The lavender is soft and natural, unlike the intense, statement-making lavenders one finds in great fougeres.

What one must know about this fragrance is that Fragrantica gets it wrong…very wrong. I realize that the brand does not publish notes, but the note breakdown up above misses the most prominent aspect of the fragrance. This is a sandalwood fragrance, and more specifically, a Javanol (synthetic) sandalwoood fragrance. Javanol is an expensive aroma compound, and it gives a beautiful, creamy rendition of the note. Think CDG Wonderwood, Diptyque Tam Dao, or Eccentric Molecules 04. Do not be concerned that it is a synthetic as India has forbidden the export of Mysore sandalwood, and Javanol is a very solid alternative with the added benefit that it projects better than the real thing.

I say, with great respect, that the reviews on here that discuss the transition from bergamot/lavender to musk might well be confusing the Javanol for musk. This does not mean the musk is not present, it is, but it is not the defining character. The musk colors the sandalwood like the lavender colors the bergamot, but the sandalwood is dominant… it is not even close. To write a review here and fail to mention the sandalwood can only happen if you are not familiar with sandalwood fragrances of this type.

I really love this. It falls in the intersection of interesting and likeable. It very unique, easy to love, and one of my new favorites.

Update: Compliments are a guilty pleasure, but a pleasure just the same. I am blown away by the number of complete strangers who comment positively on this fragrance. I am sure it is a function of not just the scent but the silage, but that being said… this one gets positive attention like nothing else.

Olehkopystko

Yeah, name stands for it self.
Just a bit urinal/sweaty bergamot.Smells good tho, and its not "ultra niche" like guys in tiktok are making it to be, it is very chill citrus fragrance, that was made by looking for other way to make citrus fragrance. Its not your typical watered lemonade fragrance, and its not syntheticly-powerful like kenzo par or 2 wood. Its just other side of moon, never tried anything like that before

kispo

I am not big fan of citric fragances in general... But I had really high hopes for this one since is " orto paris"... The opening was really unpleseant for me... I remember i said something like " it's sweaty butholes and roten lemons"... Silly me... the drydown is mutch better don't really like the smell on my skin but in the air it's nice the lavender brings some peace tho my soul and that sweaty buthole warm embrace becomes smoother and appealing, and it is a long journey il lasts forever.... So it's not for everyone but it's unique and deserves the attention.

bd78

Worst orto parisi. Smells metalic and citrusy and quite boring. Don’t know why it’s so hyped up.

endrit_2001

I will tell you how its smell with one word
Where you wash clothes and let them dry wet and smell them you get a heavy smelle this is how it actually smell

Nurique

Çok güzel bir bergamot ve limon kokusu içerisinde Megamare’den gelen hafif sentetik havayı alıyorum ve buna bayıldığım kesin çok param olsa kesinlikle alırdım ama bu paraya deneceğini düşünmüyorum..

gordogevin

Just smells like a lemon. Very underwhelming

stroobery

def not a blind buy, strong strong bergamot with a slight musk, someone described it as angel or golden sweat and matches that description perfectly, dry down is more musky than citrus and bergamot is a bit harsh but still really nice

mannywell

Don't understand the hype with this one. To my nose, this starts off as a very screechy citrus (I don't associate the elegance and aromatic facets of actual bergamot with this fragrance) and that's it. Nothing else happens.

Colognecompanion123

I bought a 1ml sample of this and honestly its not bad but definitely not something i would wear, the citrus notes are way too strong and the fragrance doesn't smell like its £140 in my opinion.

Zpmghal

its definitely the best perfume I've ever smelt,my first try something from Gualtieri and this is just masterpiece, it's wonderful and I wont stop repeating how freaking perfect it is,just absolutely love it. Perfect fragrance and this is the definition of word cook. Gaultieri you're a genius man. my mum told me smells like a corpse but my dad liked it. Idk for me its not a bergamot, don't hear it,its more lemon zest in the opening but then i hear dark dirty animalistic musk, love it absolutely so much,so perfect,so perfect, don't have any words, this is the masterpiece and i adore it,wanna smell other works of Gualtieri.

absolutely adore it, absolutely without a doubt the most gorgeous smell I've ever experienced, idk why but it reminds me of my childhood like a smell of some stranger man, but it does smell like a just like a little nap with your dog under the lemon tree, laying with surrounding your lemon's zest and musky dog, this is more than just smell, this is a piece of art.

JurijP

Seems to me most reviews are rather garbage. As if some wannabies try to show of who never smelled a real flower in life. I’m not a professional when it comes to perfumes and smelling notes at all but to me after dry down this smells pretty much like natural lavender out of the garden and dry. First I did get some citrus but now it’s pretty much all dried lavender, very realistic, calming.

thepickler1000

Had some issues with my bottles longevity at first, but after owning it for about a month it performs very well with longevity and projection. It’s a sour citrus, floral, musky scent that isn’t the most unique scent out there but it’s definitely one of, if not, the best in its category. Good for warmer weather, can’t see myself wearing it in cold weather. Overall, if you want a good citrus scent, this is one of the best. 9/10

I smelled this in NYC and I loved it. People (especially those with 'TikTok' taste) completely get the wrong idea with otro parisi fragrances. I ended up getting wet cherry liquor by bohoboco instead over this, but I do love this fragrance. This is a great wearable summer scent that has a sort of 'dirty' bergamot, if you have smelled this you might you know what I mean by that. It has the very sharp bergamot and lemon opening then drying down to a more woody and musky scent with the bergamot lying in the background. The drydown is also slightly and realistically earthy which gives it a unique kick to it. I just would rather get a different citrus scent with my money.

Zautsu

After hearing great reviews, I finally purchased an Orto Parisi fragrance, a brand I've been aware of for some time but hadn't tried until now.

I'm thoroughly impressed by this scent. The Bergamot is exquisite, and the musky/woody dry down is incredibly smooth and pleasant. Although the initial citrus notes can be somewhat intense/sharp, it's strangely appealing to me. Contrary to some reviews, I don't detect any unpleasant sweatiness in it.

However, my only gripe with this fragrance is its performance, which seems inconsistent against the reviews. Despite hearing about its legendary performance, it seems to vary on my skin. While it lingers impressively on clothes/skin and projects well for the first hour or two, it quickly becomes a skin scent thereafter. I even briefly worried about its authenticity due to the performance not matching the hype. Nonetheless, after using Orto Parisi's "Spot a Fake" video and scrutinizing the packaging/bottle, I'm confident it's genuine. It checks all the marks for a real bottle/box and I got it from a pretty reputable online shop.

Overall, I'd rate the fragrance: 7.5/10
Scent: 9/10
Longevity: 9/10
Sillage: 5/10 (Just falls short for me, unfortunately.)

My batch code is 04224, someone let me know if there's been any known reformulations or maybe that's just a weaker batch.

matixzun

A very nice and pleasant fragrance. A very simple yet unique composition where bergamot and musk are mixed into a powerful citrus bomb that yet smells distinctive, not like anything commonly smelled.

Could easily be a signature fragrance for warmer months. Long lasting, fresh and clean. As it dries down it gets very musk-dominant but the citrus remains through the whole duration to be commendable. If you are a citrus fan and want a long lasting signature this is the solution, but you need to enjoy or tolerate musky smells as well, if you dislike musks or more slightly animalic notes you might be put off by the dry down.

8.5/10, really liking this.

Edward Sandberg

My mom complained I smelled a lot of this not even being near her, 8 hours after application, that says everything about the longevity, projection and sillage.

Lovely citrus in the opening, then the musk blows everything up, boosting every other note and giving the not so mass appealing, but great smell.

Saad_ali

Signature Gualtieri style of perfumery. A beautiful earthy citrus followed by a human-like creamy musk. Reminds me of what a side character in the film "boogie nights" would smell like.

tominko8878

This was my first full bottle from Orto Parisi house. As many people say here, at the beginning it smells like really acidic bergamot. But after few minutes the fragrance settles, and you’re getting literal citrus mixed with sweat (in a good way), and a lots of javenol. On my skin is really long lasting and projects very well.

Best thing about Bergamask is that warmer&sweatier your skin gets, the smell is even better. Wore this few times to the gym, got a lots of compliments from both genders.

Performance is awesome for a citrus fragrance, i finally found my hotter months signature.

matchagpo

weird and distinct citrus compared to other fragrances, personally wore off on my skin quickly (1-2 hrs).

fluntihg

Very beautiful citrus opening, unlike others I'd smelt, then very soon after the lavender kicks in, and it kicks in hard. Smells like Aesop soap, and the musk becomes strong too after a few hours of wearing. Would definitely recommend for Spring/Summer, and for use during the day too. The projection is good, especially for a summer scent, and longevity is a dream, even on my skin, where all scents become a skin scent within 3-4 hours of wearing. I will be buying this for summer, and it is definitely signature scent worthy, as it's truly unlike any other citrus summer scents I've smelt.

bamba21

way way WAYYYY to citrusy, smells like a citrus tree is violating my insides

FragranceZoe

This is just fantastic. Smells like a baby with some citrus and a tiny bit of baby powder

Zack_Zucco

Lovely scent with great longevity and an above average sillage + projection. Not as animalic as a lot of people like to make it out to be - yes it is musky but the main note in this fragrance is the javanol/sandalwood accord. Bergamot stays for a really long time and I really really like the opening - very fresh and I don’t really get the citronella smell that other people have mentioned. I think definitely be careful with how much you spray - honestly no more than two sprays. Easy to go nose blind with this so DO NOT REAPPLY. This lasts forever. Trust Gualtieri.

Singhscents

Beautiful fragnance but it seems it doesn't project as people claim. I have Terroni and Megamare from the line which have beast projection.

Bgbdarby

Absolutely beautiful scent, words can’t describe this work of art. I just have the faintest worry that my batch isn’t as strong as most people claim. Can anyone with batch 04224 (April 2022) or later let me know how it performs for them or if it differs from any other batches if they’ve got experience with them? Many thanks!

Olavi

love it and will be buying a bottle for summer. First hour all I could smell was lemon, which I like very much, then the dry down comes and it becomes softer muskier smell with smooth lemon in the back. Lasted me all day after spraying once on my wrist.

sonny35

Three simple stages for me on this one.

Stage one: opens up mosquito repellent citronella.
Stage two: mid phase office for men like bergamot.
Stage three: drydown is all javanol.

Very very simple.

If you like it then great because it lasts all day!

xvxmatthewxvx

This is just an insane fragrance. A piece of art in a bottle. It is no debate that it is the best of all the Orto Parisi fragrances. As we know fresh fragrances in general tend to not have the best performance, but this, this is something different. It lasted over 19 hours on my skin believe it or not. I even had a shower in the evening and felt in on my hand the next morning.

The smell is wonderful too. A fresh bomb and I pick up the bergamott and lavender really much. Then it dries down to a perfectly blended blend of musk and tonka. But I don't really pick up much of the tonka while the musk is heavy. The fragrance is just excellent perfumery. Pure art.

p1eh

my bird loves this fragrance lol anytime i spray it he starts singing or dancing he has literally never done this before lol.
Masterpiece of a fragrance though.

Adriano2001

A loud bergamot bomb in the opening , drys down to a really nice citrus musky woody with a slight inky leather twist , it’s unique, fresh long lasting and projects well and also very versatile , suits any situation all year round, my personal signature scent. You will smell fantastic all day long and I also find that everyone likes it .. I don’t understand how you couldn’t it smells amazing. Absolute masterpiece and a fragrance for life.

Nils.Chr

Masterpiece from Allesandro Gualtieri. Best orto parisi in my opinion. Great in warm weather and a great head turner that get compliments in my opinion. Good price point, would recommend this too everyone but you should smell it first as with all orto parisi.

This is a special fragrance to me. It's much like a piece of art. Let me try to explain what I mean and hopefully I'm gonna be able to do so in way that makes sense.
Imagine going to a museum, standing in front of a painting. It makes you feel, makes you think, it gives you an experience, be it positiv or negativ. That to me is art. Hate it or love it is both valid components of the full experience. Nothing is worst than standing in front of a piece of art that makes you feel nothing... emptiness.
This fragrance is just like art, I don't hate it but I don't love it either and most importantly I don't feel emptiness or in other words bored by it. I do on the other hand appreciate how I can't figure it out, or perhaps can't figure out how I feel about it.
Final thoughts would be try it, get a sample and experience the art of parfumes in all of the many ways it shows itself

OzkarVanille

From a 0,7ml sample: This summer/fall perfum is quite acidic at first spray, but dries down to a more masculine and refined smell. Musky, woody and powdery, but still manages to keep it light enough for summer. It's not giving that fresh breezy aquatic smell, and I think this perfum more suits hot summer evenings. Its not as generic as other bergamot perfumes, but definitely not a head turner. I would say this is safe enough for school/work, but I can imagine it cloying if oversprayed. Again, this reminds me more of hot summer nights, but I would definitely be using it during daytime aswell. A little more sour than sweet, deep but also fresh.

Szalaiis

Really good scent from Orto Parisi. The opening is a faded citrus ( bergamott, maybe lime) which seems unisex. But during the drydown it grows to a mainly masculine scent. I would use it immediatelly if it were a long lasting perfume, but it isn’t! No sillage no longevity on my skin. I have to tell that Black Afgano is also very weak on my skin.

I really sorry because I want this but I don’t want to spray it on me in every hour…

Chinndog

ISO E Super bomb. Opens like a bergamot tea that’s slightly metallic on my skin, and dries down to a more sweaty, musky scent.

Lasts ages but isn’t at all overpowering or overwhelming - it doesn’t give me headaches or anything. It also doesn’t feel like it radiates too much, it’s more intimate than you might think.

EDIT 16.10.2023
@santeripe, Yeah I absolutely got it and I fully agree with you break-down before, brilliant break-down Bro. I will just add my experience, because everything had been already said. This is undoubtedly Amber-Sandalwood centered formulation. A mind-blowing and very artistic construction of perfume. In other words, this is a very unique strategy to create a citrus-musk, by not working with citrus that much, actually. I have changed the perspective on this perfume completely, as my nose got trained slightly more.

I have written a review earlier, being completely blind xD. Now I want to refresh my opinion and rewrite a review, because this is something unusual on the market. A typical common aspect of Gualtieri's artistry is, that he uses massive amounts of very strong and expansive amber aroma-chemicals, primarily. Also I believe, that he really knows how to work with different Musks.

A very dense, sweet, and very strong Amber-Sandalwood centered formulation. A Citrus-Musk formulation, being not Citrus based at all, to be honest. Gualtieri is an artist and crazy chemist. All chemistry rules where broken in His perfumery, that is why it is beautiful and undoubtedly niche. I can associate this perfume with very high concentrations of Ambroxan, Javanol, Timberol, Ambermax, Amber Extreme, Ambrocenide, Amber Core, obviously Iso E Super (velvety texture). I believe, Ambers are blended here with Sandalwood aroma-chemicals and complex Musk accord very smoothly. Some naturals are selected here as well, however, it feels to be primarily aroma-chemicals based. Nothing wrong with that though. The opening feels to be quite light and bright, juicy, reminds Bergamot EO, Lemon and some other things, it has a slightly green quality to it as well (just to my nose). It transforms very quickly to a very intense, sweet, thick texture of Amber-Sandalwood core of the formula. I detect even slightly animalic quality in the fragrance, maybe because of particular choice of Musks. And, this smooth, sweet and slightly powdery finish of Sandalwood raw materials... I think, it is fabulous, once again. A unique unique perfumery, this is built in a completely different way, than majority of citrus perfumes on the market. I love how it is unconventional and beautiful in the same time. This is a technical marvel, linear fragrance. Connoisseurs will appreciate.

This is on my life list.

This fragrance is loud, powerful citrus fragrance. Smells bitter, sweaty, feel the hall with ease. Perfect fragrance for high heat when you are moving somewhere.

fahmyy

If you're looking for a fragrance that smells like a sweaty skanky bergamot andthat lasts 12 hours + get this. Do not listen to any hype, this fragrance literally smells like a sweaty bergamot I wouldn't pay over $20 for this. Performace is amazing tho

shalimarlover

Overhyped and under delivers! Well admittedly the performance delivers, it is a beast. But its just not an enjoyable fragrance.. Its a dull, flat, lifeless citrus, not a sparkling, vibrant, energetic or fun citrus. The musk is also lifeless, it totally smothers and flattens the composition even further, its not dirty or sweaty, its just, boring.
Then finally we have to endure 12 hours of javanol overdose, quite possibly one of the ugliest aromachemicals created, Gaultieri is one of the laziest perfumers around.

There are much better and much cheaper citrus scents out there. This fragrance has great performance and projection but I just don’t think it’s worth the price tag. The scent is an 8/10 and this is a fragrance that I would recommend checking out.

violeteme

An interesting take on bergamot, unisex. And for a bergamot this has quite a longevity. It's musky and aromatic. Smells both refreshing and alluring. The scent is very versatile and can be worn in many places.

moyashi

In the opening i get a fresh burst of bergamot accompanied by lavender that is very aromatic and almost therapeutical
Dry down is more subtle bergamot and lavender and the musky note comes forth
I really enjoyed this fragrance till it turned into a disgusting erba pura-esque scent after some hours of wear
Longevity is beastmode on the other hand, i sprayed it in the afternoon, took a shower in the evening and could still smell hints of it the next morning

Bergamask is a wonderful game of contrasts: the freshness of the bergamot, above the musk that represents the smell of the skin that exudes, having as a frame the place dearest to Gualtieri: his Apulian garden, where, in the company of his grandfather, he spent the period of his childhood . Imagine exploring it only with your nose: aromas of fruit and citrus overlap with those of sweat and manure, creating an alternation of pleasure and repulsion.
Bergamask, don't get me wrong, it is very pleasant for me, exceptional but, like all the fragrances of this line, you either love it or hate it. You can't mediate. I love it.

es_paradis

Usually, I enjoy bergamot in fragrances as it is zesty and slightly sour, but this one is not - rather sweet and musty. The fragrance itself is rather one dimensional and linear. A bit undefined, not to musky to be skanky like Musc Ravageur, but not enough citrusy as well. Wearable, but not memorable.

On the other hand, the longevity is surreal. Almost annoyingly long lasting, up to the point that it stuck to my t-shirt after two washed (and had decent sillage as well).

Arber Cami

Wow I was unpleasantly surprised. This perfume is a nuclear weapon, lasts 5 days on clothes (not good in my case). Opens up with a blast of chemical messy citruses and a kind of bug spray (like citronella) mixed with a soil-like smell. Dries down to a fresh, citrusy with an animalic musk...absolutely horrid.
Sample before buying, not blind buy safe if you ask me.

emil1724

kind of odd bergamot in the opening, then creamy sandalwood and soft-ish musk come into play. almost smells vanilla like on my skin. very good, just bought. simple, fairly clean, leans masculine, projects really good. for all year wear.

this sounds not very overwelming, but its one of the best fragrances ive ever tried im not gonna lie.

Avogard

Very simple, but so. fucking. good. And I don't even like citrus.

victorrespes2

So similar to 24 ice gold scent ( this one great alternate to bergamask )

JennyNoBull

This is the most powerful citrus fragrance out there. I’m generally not a citrus girl, but bergamot is always the exception. If a fragrance features bergamot musk and sandalwood—I’m always game. This one is vey special: loud, eternally performing with amazing silage and a masterful dance of notes that seem to emit an even more intense facet in high heat and humidity. The way this fragrance behaves is almost human. It’s not the most feminine of scents but I feel it’s quite unisex and I’d love to smell this on a man. Until then, this is my go-to energizer bunny citrus.

Adwa92

If you're looking for a lavendery/citrusy/musky scent signature for summer, Bergamask is the one. It needs sometime after the opening to truly appreciate it and gather its complexities yet simplicity.

Blue hulk

As soon as I put this on my skin I was hit with a sharp, but not pungent, blast of bergamot and almost immediately smooth but powerful clean musk that smells almost like my own natural musk. In short this is addictive clean powerful musk with some wood that may give some heft to a never ending bergamot that takes the back seat but never goes away. I was so in love with this masterpiece that I order a backup bottle after the first spray. I’m going to have Bergamask for a really long time. Fragrance net is having a sale just in case you’re interested and live in the US.
Just like Mihais comment below me, this fragrance feels very tamed, not beast mode at all.

mihais

This is... interesting. For some reason it seems that my nose finds Gaultieri's fragrances very tame as opposed to how people usually react to them. I might be partially nose blind to the chemicals that he uses, but I don't find them that weird or overpowering. Ok, maybe this is a little overpowering, more than Megamere for me.

In the air it smells pleasant enough, synthetic citrus. I can see this as being a decent compliment-getter, I don't think that it's offensive at all in the air. On the skin though, you can detect the animalic musk, which can get quite nauseating if you keep on smelling it.

Djoker21

This is poor perfumery. Heavily concentrated sandalwood dominates. Very linear.

Frogman_taras

It smells old lady, sweat and musk. A super linear fragrance which doesn’t evolve even a tiny bit.
I do not pick-up the bergamot or at least the musk is overpowering and cover everything else (at least to my nose it smells this way).
This is a huge pass for me. Sorry Mr. Gualtieri.
Don’t understand how this frag is considered to be summer appropriate.

Fragmotion

This a sweaty musky citrus BOMB!!! You will not fill only a room when you will be wearing this, you will fill almoast a HOTEL! I think this is unisex but it depends. Don't buy blind, give it a try first.

Prevesonty

Not what I expected. To loud for my taste.

Jammy777

I wore this today for the first time. What a delight! I live in the hot tropics of Africa. This could just be the scent I've been looking for. Bergamask is a brilliant creation, and a comforting departure from my many Oud dominant fragrances that are not quite suitable for my climate.

PalmiPalmi

Nothing much to say about this.
The bergamot is just spectacular and the musk isn't too clean but not too animalic either.
The sillage and longevity are really good.
I'd say it's an all year around perfume, the opening is fresh and clean while the drydown is dark.
The drydown is extremely similar to Lalique's Encre Noire for some reason???
I'm really satisfied.

meama

monodimentional and very synthetic citrus ...javanol?...ok , indeed un-nuanced chemical stuff who seems to just came out the factory.
pseudo sandalwood and lavender + citrus
Don't confuse projection and quality...

TheSniffer

I think it’s a shame that people seem to view this scent is just “Bergamot and Musk” just because of the name (which has nothing to do with Bergamot or Musk, it’s the name of a dance performed in Bergamo, Italy), and because of the lack of accurate notes on here. I feel it does this scent a disservice.

We know Mr Gualtieri actually doesn’t release notes, but based off ‘Science and Chemistry’-s thorough chemical breakdown of the composition of this scent, I would put forth the following more accurate notes:

Top - Bergamot, Mandarin
Mid - Sandalwood, Amber
Base - Sandalwood, Musk, Cedar, Oud

(The Sandalwood coming from the overdose of synthetic Sandalwood molecules [primarily but not exclusively Javanol], the Cedar from the ISO E Super and the Amber/Oud facets from the Ambrocenide.)

Ironically, musks only make up a very small percent of the actual formula (around 4.5% apparently, compared to whopping 36% Javanol), so it’s a shame that because of a lack of accurate notes and a misunderstood name, 90% of reviews seem to mention just “musk” when referring to everything apart from the Bergamot...

Personally, I think this is well worth a sniff. Yes it is INCREDIBLY STRONG, but to my nose it wasn’t as challenging as some people had made out, and I was surprised how long the Citrus notes hung around for. I think if you spray (very) lightly this stuff would be great for the warmer months. 🙌🏻

aleksandar.dragas6

So quite simply put this is the most expensive-smelling citrus scent in the niche world. To my nose there isn't bergamot nor musk, this is a dance of javanol (yes, once you have worn molecule 04 on your skin you are very much aware of how javanol smells) and something citric, I dare to say unripe, sour peach smelling. It lasts over 24hrs on me and I got noticed and commented on by wearing it. I tried 6 out of 9 from the Parisi collection and so far this is my favourite, closely followed by terroni. Btw everyone is confusing name Bergamask with notes, it refers to a rituals/masks rather than notes.

calyx93

I cannot tolerate Javanol after early experiments with amateur perfumery. It's just too powerful and single-minded - a chemical exaggeration of a sandalwood candle. Once you know Javanol, you'll smell it in whatever contains it - now go sniff a candle aisle at a store. You can't unsmell it and it's just too un-nuanced here.

FMilan

How much java would a javanol nol if a javanol could nol java.

FaisalBio

Very difficult to describe cause it changes on skin. I guess it started to smell like cleaning products for 10 minutes then it changed to citrus with body odor musk, it continues to change till I feel it’s only clean manly musk.

Great for gym or going outdoors! As it gets better after sweating!

@antoniom , broski, 1ml is a ginormous amount of perfume, this brand creates very full bodied perfumes, so 1 ml of any of these is like 3ml of designer…

mostafa385

Nice & unique perfume, smells soft & fresh. nothing animalistic here. it smells clean & fresh. suitable for summer & spring. I wear it to office & I get many compliments. Longevity is 10+ hours & radiates well within your space so, performance is good. I will get a FB soon.

Ilikewhatilike

Very prominent bergamot in the opening and it stuck around for white a while before moving into a musky skin scent. I didn’t get anything funky.

prettypearl02

Smells like spring going into summer. The beginning of June. Puny flowers and lavender, lemonade, sweet sweat

c0rtland

So great.

pablo1975

This is very unique perfume, it possesses the power to open up as a dominant musk, which as you can see from the previous reviews, some people find it repulsive. I have added it to my collection as a spring/summer fragrance.

You don't have to to love it or like it but there is nothing like that, with that citrus splash and musk base.

Don't do blind buy as you may not be into it. I sprayed a tester in the store and two days after I bought it because it was really standing out and I really loved how it dried down. It a Yes from me. A bit pricey though.

AntonioM

Obnoxiously loud with a tremendous performance.

I got a 1 ml sample of this perfume and I really liked the citrus opening so I poured it all over me.
And let me tell you, it lasted the whole day, 15 hours plus!
It's not bad but it's just so loud and the scent seemed to get stronger for each passing hour, and mind you I only used 1 ml...
I got some om my clothes and the smell is still there, very much so, they morning after.

I thought I really liked it because of the opening but after wearing it for work the whole day I can say it's definitely not for me.
People will notice this one and the scent lingers on in the room even after you left.

A total beast of a perfume.

derby2169

Even though I previously had a bad encounter with this brand, and am also not a massive Nasomatto fan, the promise of bergamot, my favorite citrus, matched with white musk and beastly performance, really intrigued me.

Unfortunately it was a instant dislike. An intensely sharp synthetic powdery musk compound, reminiscent of the MFK soapy laundry detergent core but amped up to 11, super sharp, dry, intense. I believe some relatively expensive amber-like raw materials are being used here, blended in a way to feel fresh, but very nauseating and irritating to the stomach.

@Lakay41112/31/22 09:41
Does anyone know if the 90ml bottles are original? I bought one recently
- Think you figure it by now but just in case ... it's fake

Yalcin05

I can understand that many don’t agree with this composition. There is definitely a lavender which takes over the citruses within few minutes. This is a 4 seasons scents in my opinion, because in the drydown it’s about a dirty animalic musk, yet clean and fresh with the citrus, spice of lavender and some other florals maybe?

Anyways it really smells of musks, more facets of musk but the animalic one i told you about is very very similar to more orto parisi perfumes and also similar to black afgano to my nose.

The performance is really great and therefore besides it’s dark, this scent is suited for every season and it will smell different in any season as well. It’s that kind of a art perfume. I’m not in love, but it’s such a amazing piece of art .. time to time. I will wear it. But in my collection it’s definitely the citrus which I dismiss the most, because it’s not a citrusy for me but a animalic perfume

7/10 everything is perfect but the smell it self needs time to appreciate

Placeholder

Not for me but I can appreciate it in the name of the art. Do NOT blind buy this one. To my nose it smells like a cheap frag that’s been mixed with some kind of pickle juice. Its that strong that it burns my nose hairs. If you’re looking for a unique beast mode fragrance for the summer definitely worth the sample. Quite unique in its own way and people around you will either love it or hate it

j4yt33

Bergamot, lavender, basil and... some super fecal musk. Not for me unfortunately

VETTIVAER

Green bergamot, radiant musk and superambers. Love it or hate it, it is simple, effective, a statement.

cocoon_yonk

there is so much more going on here than bergamot and musk. it opens with a bright lavendery hit of aromatics and a sweaty salty blast of sea and skin and an almost overripe bergamot citrus. i think i get basil in the initial dry down, or at least something green and herbal, and then the musk and sandalwood come in to dominate, creating a sunkissed skin effect that's so beautiful. this perfume is among my favorites ever

One leaf of autumn

Strong and potent. Freshie, but not freshie performance. It is strong, very very strong, not a dislike though. Open up with the bergamot, citrusy. However, it don't last and the musk take over the main lead role. It is not a dirty animalic musk, but a sharp and clean style. The musk will last for very long until the end of it.
I've gotten a full bottle after testing it.

stalal

Its ok I guess.. It has an oily citrusy smell very much like Blenheim Bouquet by Penhaligons. Nothing wall shattering, world defying, out of ordinary masterpiece which people make it out to be. Its been a disappointment bag trying Alessandro Gualtieri's work. It makes sense everyone praise his work but you will never find his creations as the most favourite perfumes!!

Vanish

Strange...my experience with the opening straight up takes me back to the Hacivat from Nishane. Bergamask to me is a simple fragrance. First you got bergamot, juicy and ripe bergamot, some may link it to mosquito repellent, perhaps...but even mosquito repellent-like scent can be enjoyed if you want to. I don't mind the comparison. Shortly after the juicy bergamot, musk starts to show, standing there just right behind the bergamot, playing peekaboo. The musk is warm, a little spicy, but nothing animalic or off putting. Idk maybe my tolerance threshold is higher, or maybe my skin, but this musk is a not a challenge note to me. The musk comes out and wraps the bergamot when the scent drydown creating a thick layer of sensation. Quite an interesting experience, not hard to pull off, not a compliment magnet either. Just a different enough scent without being weird or polarized.
Longevity is good. 10 hours plus. Projection is average, half-an-arm to an-arm length.
Not a love but I like it.

Knightsbridge9

If you're not into animalic musks, stay away from Bergamask. People weren't joking when they said the longevity and sillage are extremely strong. I had to wash this off immediately and could still smell it for 24 hours. If you enjoy animalic notes, then this is the perfect fragrance for you. My first and last time delving into this house.

KIZILBAY

Bu arada Turin'in yere göğe sığdıramadığı parfüm "New York" .
Mesela Burberry, Gucci, Armani falan olabilir...

Dual Output

Megamare is without a doubt a powerful eternal lasting fragrance but to me it still doesn't pronounce itself in a room quite like Bergamask. For a powerful citrus musky fragrance somehow this doesn't come off as a household cleaner smell to me like many do. Kudos to Alessandro on this one!

Bergamot + sex sweat

R0me0

Ive come to know Orto parisi through seminalis which I have purchased and is one of my daily wears. Then I sampled boccanera which I thought was very interesting on paper and absolutely repelling on my skin - über strong, dry and way too masculine.

But I still wanted to try bergamask and I’m very glad I did. I just bought a second sample since I’m not ready to shell out the full price just yet.

To me the citrus in this fragrance is perfect; I usually hate citrus in most perfumes because most of the time they lean very clean which instantly makes me think of detergent and bathroom freshener. Bergamask is a take on a dirty citrus which makes it interesting to me. The bergamot has an oily quality to it, I’m not sure how to explain it. It brings to mind the thick peel of the fruit, like it would smell scratching the skin with your nail. I also smell something which makes me think of lavender. Can’t comment on the musk part since I’m pretty anosmic to it.

I wouldnt know how to categorize this scent. To me it’s for of a daytime fragrance. I think it’s fitting for many moods (which is how I usually categorize my perfume). It works both as a calming and energizing scent (maybe the comforting smell of lavender versus the zing of the citrus?). It’s a mystery but one I very much enjoy !

santeripe

Molecule 04 is pure Javanol, with around 2% of Javanol in the bottle. The rest is alcohol and solvents. It's rated as "eternal" and "room-filling" by people. Javanol is one of the strongest aromachemicals that exists in perfumery, and undoubtably the strongest one that smells pleasant on its own. It's a totally synthetic molecule that doesn't exist in nature. Custom-made to replace endangered sandalwood in perfumery.

According to Scent & Chemistry on Facebook, this fragrance's formula is 36% Javanol. Because this is an Extrait concentration, the amount of Javanol in the final liquid is insane and mind-boggling. Around 12%. Six times more than in "eternal" Molecule 04. It's been expertly complimented and covered by other strong superambers, so that the final blend doesn't smell like pure Javanol. Geza Schön said that he had to greatly lower the amount of Javanol in Molecule 04 "so your house wouldn't explode". Orto Parisi said screw it and made this bomb.

And no, this doesn't smell like bergamot throughout. You only get an opening hit of citrus, before the scent quickly settles into an eternal musky sandalwood base. The opening truly does smell like citrus essential oil. Which is remarkable for something that lasts at least 24 hours on skin.

I don't pick up any mosquito repellant in this no matter how hard I try. Or anything unpleasant. I'm actually really enjoying this, because I'm not getting a headache and the scent is very balanced. Super synthetic strong fragrances always seem to be safe for my migraines. But I'd beware wearing this to work, as some people can find this the opposite of safe and pleasant. The room-filling projection this has will subject everyone to your scent.

Malthus101

Not impressed. Opening like Deet or one of those smokey candles designed to repel mosquitos.

Then quickly changes into a not unpleasant skin scent - it was ok catching whiffs of it on my clothing in bed but it lingered for too long (still on there now)

Enough is enough, the washing machine can't come soon enough.

So many unimpressive and underwhelming fragrances out there.

Zuziafruzia

I was gifted a pretty big sample by a friend even though it wasn’t really my type of fragrance. In the beginning, it was very interesting, citrusy but bitter and it didn’t really appeal to me. But having sprayed it on and worn it for a couple hours I could smell a very fresh earl gray tea, both with bergamot and fresh tea leaves, and it was enticing! It was fresh but also not really, I would wear it for autumn not to fall victim to only wearing heavy smoky smells. BUT…

Then I read the reviews. And damn, it does smell like mosquito repellant. I wish I could unsmell this connection. That said, I did kind of enjoy that smell when it’s already wearing off, it is summer and you are just chilling in your garden drinking earl gray lemonade… I do have to think EARL GRAY when I take a sniff and then all is well but if that would be a problem for you, do not blind buy.

Sunnn

I am honest. This perfume is similar to a mosquito repellent. This got much attention because of influencers and the subsequent hype, and that´s happened also with all the other creations of this house. I think that the whole thing is a giant marketing bubble. This scent is good but smells cheap. yes, very synthetic, wich is not a bad thing a lot amazing perfumes are synthetic, but what i mean with "synthetic" is that it feels like a poor smell, generic, like a 20$ or € cologne.

First it is not the powerhouse that everybody says, on the contrary it is loud just at the beginning and than it become very light,, it project very soflty . Yes longevity is average, not poor, but it is not loud. Of course if you overspray on your shirt you will smell it also next day a little bit, but this happens with every Eau de Parfum. It seems that people realise that only with gualtieri´s scents. To me this perfume is just ok and boring (but not bad). Nothing more.
Definitely not worth the price tag

M-as-Marin

The more I’m a part of the fragrance industry and in this hobby, I have found out that I much prefer high-quality easy-to-wear fragrances, rather than those heavier fragrances I used to adore just a couple of years ago. Here's where Bergamask steps in.

TOP NOTES
The scent opens with a bold, astringent, and oily bergamot note that feels like it was actually extracted from the citrus itself.

Yet, this citrus doesn’t smell like that, nor does it feel like something you would find in nature which is the case in fragrances such as Dior Homme Cologne or in Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza.

Strangely enough, this bergamot which is boosted by other notes such as bergamot, lime, and orange blossom is thicker and more robust which evokes more of a picture of citruses rather than a real thing.

HEART NOTES
The thickness from the opening continues to go on as the fragrance transitions in the middle notes. The muskiness, while not still dominating the composition is somewhat held down by an unnamed spicy accord, and soft floral touches of lavender.

The main issue I saw in other people’s experiences with this fragrance is its “indestructible” and overpowering scent profile that many can find off-putting, and are not generally accustomed to fresh citrus fragrances.

BASE NOTES
Like in the Bergamasca dance, the dry down is amplified by the musk and woody notes. The musk is just slightly animalic, but nowhere near the one found in for example Yves Saint Laurent Kouros.

Anyone familiar with Escentric Molecules 01, and Escentric Molecules 04 will detect the high doses of Javanol and Iso E Super which represent the artificial substitutes for sandalwood and cedarwood.

As with spicy and floral notes from the heart notes, woody molecules keep the otherwise animalic musk at the bay, just enough detectable to not be off-putting.

I became interested in this scent the moment I've heard about it. Usually I don't like citrus scents but bergamot that lasts forever and leaves intoxicating trail all day long? Bring it on! It's really true what they say about this perfume - the lasting power is enormous! Plus it projects like crazy. Even though you sometimes cannot feel the scent yourself others will do. I used 3 sprays in the morning before work and the moment I got in the car almost 10 hours later my husband's first question was: what perfume did you just use? And of course I didn't reapply throughout the day! I don't think it ever happened with any fragrance I have in my collection. It's remarkable. Be prepared that you won't feel the scent very much during the day, it likes to play peekaboo but still you feel that you have a scent bubble around you. It's a creamy, zesty bergamot at first, then ambergris takes the stage. It's creamy, sensual, milky even, zesty, happy but very, very sexy and seductive. Plus, when I took a shower I thought it was gone, I was like, ok, it lasted the whole day but for sure it disappeared for me now I have showered. How surprised I was when I woke up the next day and the first thing I smelled was Bergamask. Just as I would just spray it in the air! This is a magic potion in the bottle. I have 5 ml decant, we'll see how that goes but I think I would want to invest in a full botte in the future. I have never encountered such a beautiful and captivating bergamot fragrance. Don't let the opinions that it smells just like a plain bergamot oil fool you. It's a bergamot creamy masterpiece.

fahadharoon

I tried this today at the mall. I fully agree with its comparison to Hatkora Wood by Ajmal. The initial phase of the two scents are different but in about 20-30 min, they become extremely similar. Hatkora is maybe ever so slightly sweeter, just a tad bit.
I am so glad I did not blind buy this. IMHO Ajmal is a better value scent with absolutely no compromise in quality.

TheBritishMuseum

I recently bought this blind after reading and watching absolutely rave reviews about the purported 'monstrous' longevity of the citrus notes. What a - very costly - disappointment. The citrus both on skin and clothes is extremely fleeting - I would beware of the Emperor's New Clothes types who claim other people can smell the citrus a reasonable time after application, even if you can't, because they can't either - and rapidly gives way to the most nauseating, indestructible, quite obviously synthetic 'musk', which I would generously characterise as 'eau de burnt rubber'.

For £130, you could afford half a bottle of Aventus, a 180ml bottle of ADP, a 100ml bottle of Leather Ombre EDT, or - even better - a 100ml bottle of Esencia Parfum on sale, *and* have enough money left over for pizza and beers with your wife and kids.

This stuff is so bad that I'm beginning to regret not investing the £130 in crypto...

Jerry_Lundegaard

Sharp citrusy bergamot with a smoothing woody musk. Very little sweetness, slightly bitter, but perceived by everyone differently. I've had others describe it ranging from warm cedary to creamy sandalwood to "old man" citrus. I also find that I quickly go nose blind to it but others notice it for hours after.

As others have said, beyond nuclear. Spray with caution. One spray is enough for every single person I encounter to notice me. As a result I tend to use this one as a layering scent. One small spray on the chest followed by a couple on my kneck of something else I feel will pair well.

Sileno

What a treasure! It starts off with a metallic sharp citrus which lasts a long while, but then develops into a sweaty animalic note that remains grounded to the bergamot which will accompany you throughout the day. To me it’s the best representation of Orto Parisi’s ambition to capture a “smell” or its suggestion rather than being a cosmetic product. Superb! A warm weather counterpart to Stercus.

Otto 1912

There's been enough talk about the performance already. I still have to say that this is bonkers, truly ridiculous for a "fresh" scent. If you've ever smelled Chanel Allure Homme Édition Blanche, this is its rowdier older brother who's on steroids. At least, that's what came to my mind.

Robusto

2-3 sprays is all you need with this. The musk is slightly animalic but only up close. The scent bubble is heaven IMO. The citrus/musk in this is blended perfectly.

My wife wears Creed Royal Princess Oud daily and it creates a silky/smooth sweet ambergris scent trail that melts my knees. I’ve been secretly looking for something I can wear that gives off the same effect. Bergamask weirdly gives off the same vibe!!

I only spray once on each side of neck. The spray always gets on my shirt and spend the entire day sniffing my shirt when nobody’s looking!

This isn’t for everyone and should be tested before buying. It’s an acquired taste, IMO. For a daily wear to set yourself apart, this is it. It’s not entirely unique but it’s f***ing fantastic!!!!

Berkana

My first review!

The Orto Parisi collection is the first house I've found myself trying in the fragrance world, Bergamask being the second from the collection, personally. Blind bought too, just like my bottle of Terroni, I'm pleasantly surprised by what Bergamask offers, but somewhat disappointed too.

The initial spray is nuclear, one that WILL engulf a room with itself. On first wear, I had my roommates asking if I happened to spray it on a towel to test, the bathroom STILL smelt of me! The sillage is dreamy, and on a sweltering day with a cool breeze, you'll find yourself with faint whiffs of that golden goodness you applied ever earlier in the day. Vintage and basic, almost. My father has a similar cologne, I couldn't tell you the name, but the initial spray and base notes seem all too familiar. That's in no way a complaint, though, the OP formula adds layers that definitely are missing in what I mentioned.

Longevity is there...but, I find myself reapplying? Never heavily, god no, perhaps it's me who's turning anosmic to it through the day? I get the biting sense my batch might just be a little weaker, or maybe my nose is still fighting to find in throughout all the other scents around me.

Overall, Bergamask stands out as a fantastic, hot day, hotter night fragrance. Perfect for the humid, for the sweaty. For the warmth and for sun. It cries out to be challenged, only to meet you at the line with a smirk. A definite recommendation for the one sweat it at the club and still smell inviting, for the drinks on the 90F beach at sunset.

Notycd

One day I woke up and thought: "I need Bergamask". Like a biblical vision it came to me, because I had only smelt it once. I tested it again on a hot day in Barcelona and can't stop thinking about it ever since. After a few additional moments of sampling, I think I'm positive I need this in my life.

To me, Bergamask feels like a couple of very rough brush strokes, making up one composition but existing completely separate from each other. One moment you get a whiff of one thing, a few breaths later it's something different. One stroke is pure cleanness. Fresh linen, expensive shampoo, sun on bedsheets. This is what hits me most often, strangely. I assume this is some kind of synthetic musk blend. Secondly, the bergamot. This is most prominent when I hold my wrist up to my nose. It smells unblended, natural, raw. I assume it is exactly that, because it behaves like an essential oil. Then there's the javanol, providing a water paint woody background. I am curious to smell what will happen after a few hours of wearing.

Like the majority of Orto Parisi/Nasomatto creations, it feels like there's some kind of magic involved here. A fragrance like this should not perform the way it actually does. The two sprays to my forearms have been lapping me in whisps of scent. I have no idea how far Bergamask reaches, but I can only assume it traces me like a winter shadow.

I like my fragrances a bit more abstract than a citrus-musk compositon. I like to smell like something that did not exist before. But there is just something about Bergamask that keeps me coming back.

This by far far is one of the best summer scent ever made.a simple yet very deep combination of creamy musk and citrus.projection will exponentially increase as the temperature rises.
There is a creamy sweetness in the dry down which is accurately adjusted and fills you with joy.
Again this one is by far one of the best summer scent and also the best in the line.it will shine and surprises you specially in humid weather.
Well done A.G.

Note : This Review is going to take time to finish.

1st time applying it and the first hour
Realistic bergamot as if you’ve just squeezed a bergamot and it’s oil came out of its skin and then you applied it to your skin + there’s an animalistic smell ( I suppose it’s the musk)
Smells vintage, imagine rubbing bergamot oil on your body and then you danced or played around and there’s your sweat mixed with the bergamot oil.

At first it’s just that and I don’t dislike it but it’s very simplistic, I want more to happen.

After an hour and a half can’t smell nothing!!!! I see the oil on the spot I had sprayed Bergamask but the smell ain’t no where to be found!

I’ll try it again on clothes and skin and see. Because I really don’t understand!

Update:
This is beautiful, vitange, simple and Sexy!
It’s fresh yet there’s some heaviness to it from that animalistic musk.
Started performing better!
Yet not finished with it I’ll come back l.

After a month of trying it for about 10 times in the summer, I sold it.
Because I didn’t enjoy it. It’s not bad but not how I wanna smell.

Head notes : bergamot, lemon
Heart notes : lavender, lily of the valley, orange blossom
Base notes : cedar, musk, tonka

I agree with the comments below that this is clean, dirty, and sexy all at once. The performance on this is fantastic. You will likely go nose blind as others have mentioned, so careful on the trigger, but believe me people will smell this. This stuff still lingers on my collar after 2-3 wash cycles. It is not overpowering to smell, it actually feels soft and inviting, yet piercing at the same time. The vibe I get while wearing this is a high quality citrus mixed with the sweat and musk of sex. Highly appropriate for spring mating season ;)

The overuse of Javanol in this scent is bewildering
you will smell nothing but this chemical in the trail of the scent
i once met with a friend wearing the scent without knowing it
i told him immediately are you wearing Javanol, he didn't understand what i was saying because he had zero knwoledge about aroma chems.
It has 36% Javanol

I wanted to like this, but alas... It starts out with a piercingly acidic bergamot. Not my cup of tea. After desperately trying to wash it off to stop nauseating my wife, it turns more musky. But it just won't come off. My wife has called dibs on sleeping in the bedroom tonight.

Sammy@au

One of the most penetrating & persistant fragrances I have ever tried.
Super strong, it morphs & sticks to things, hard to scrub off, facinating actually, the rest not so much.
Oranges & very sharp musk.

Sometimes I just don't get it when it comes to certain perfumes and find myself wondering if highly rated bottles are only highly rated because they are expensive?

This one starts out as pure lavender. I have a pillow spray that set me back £5 with a candle from TK MAXX that smells exactly the same as the initial spray of Bergamask. When I sprayed this it immediately reminded me of that far cheaper purchase. It settles down into a quite astringent musk smell with a citrus hint. It's nothing groundbreaking, especially considering the price point. In fact, I'd go as far as saying it is quite boring.

It projects quite well, with a quirk - for me at least. I drove quite a distance with this on and could no longer smell it past a point in my journey but, when I arrived at my destination, the person who greeted me and opened my door was immediately struck by the lingering fumes! So while you might go noseblind to this like I did, I think others might still be able to smell you quite obviously. Not fully sure if that's a good or bad thing from my initial experiences with Bergamask!

Overall opinion is one of being, once again, underwhelmed by an expensive and lauded recommendation.

bari

This is my best of the best perfume .. I Always feel myself perfect when I wear it .

Josu01

A nuclear dose of citrus and javanol that I love. Bergamask lasts forever on my skin and can be overwhelming, so I only apply 1 spritz to the inside of my elbows, and another behind my neck. This is enough to smell good on a hot Spring/Summer day, and also to be able to smell myself.

Accounting for how little you have to use, that 50 ml bottle will last a lifetime, which makes it a very good deal (which I think applies to the whole Orto Parisi line).

This was a love a first sniff, and it's highly recommended (just be VERY careful on the trigger, in the case of Bergamask, less is really more).

Bergamet

I find the salty musk effect of Bergamask very erotic which is the main reason that it's so darn appealing - it smells clean, dirty and sexy all at once. The salty/ sour/ musk combination gives a kind of sweat accord, but more like the effect of tasting sweat than smelling it. There is definitely lavender present at the middle, it adds to the clean feeling and helps to soften the tartness of the bergamot.

Please be warned, it's easy to go nose blind so over-spraying becomes a real obstacle, it can be dangerous especially when the sillage is this powerful. At first I thought I'd lost the scent and therefore wasted my money but I managed to detect it again several hours later. I saw one reviewer below advise us not to spray the chest because it's the quickest way to go nose blind, I agree. I use 2 sprays, never more than that and it lasts the whole day.

Edit: This has become one of my most worn fragrances BUT the lavender sometimes feels like a haphazard addition, something that sticks out noticeably. It combines with the bergamot to make something like an aromatherapy accord - citrus makes you happy, lavender makes you calm - both scientifically proven - mostly I find this combination a pleasurable experience but even I can admit that this blend has... chaotic energy. I personally like that it's rough around the edges but I thought I should mention it because some people will find it a turn off.

Italian pigeon musk

It's about time I finally write a review for this fragrance, I've had a bottle since July 2021.

I'll start off by saying out of over 300 fragrances I have, this is easily in my top 10. Hands down the best citrus fragrance I've smelled.

This was not the case when I first sampled it and basically blind bought the bottle.
I had a tiny dabber sample, I didn't get much of an impression but I thought there was something there worth picking up the full bottle to explore.

For the first 4 or 5 times wearing it, I was so upset I bought it I wanted to sell it. I could barely smell it. I believe this has to do with javanol a sandalwood molecule and other low threshold molecules Alessandro Gualtieri is known for using. Some peoples noses take time to "learn" the scent.

Let me tell you after leaving it for awhile and revisiting it, and one day it just clicked.

This is extremely potent and the sillage and longevity are off the charts. I wear this to the gym, I shower before getting in the pool, I swim, I shower, I work out, then shower again before getting back in the pool to cool down, and after all that I still smell this projecting off my skin. And not much sticks to my skin.

On clothes I smell this still after 1 wash cycle. It's not quite as difficult to wash out as megamare which totally takes ownership of your clothing for months.

The scent itself I do not find to be too musky, let alone very musky at all. The musk is in my opinion a backbone to the citrus elevating it to a very refined mature vibe. There is a very very very feignt slightly animalic undertone that becomes ever so slightly noticable after 4 or 5 hours, but in my opinion it never becomes offensive and these subtle nuances are what make this a masterpiece and more than just a citrus freshy.

The citrus lasts and lasts and is the kind of citrus that smells like the mist you can smell in the air across a room when someone is peeling an orange. It's so incredibly pleasant.

I have to say I'm very glad I didn't sell the bottle right away, this is a fragrance along with everything from the Orto Parisi line you really need to spend some time with and realize what a work of art they truly are.

I'm also going to note, for anyone interested, I also have the clone oil of this from universal perfumes and cosmetics, diluted to 20% with perfumers alcohol, and it's 99% identical to the original bottle I own.

jonesox

Bergamask for the win. Very aggressive citrus and musk bomb that you would mistakenly think is a freshy, given the bergamot note. The musk is grown and sexy and is the main player. The citrus just adds coloring and flavor. Garnered 2 strong unwarranted compliments from strangers (women) within a 1 hr span. Needless to say, I will reach for this one again real soon.

MajidB

Too Animaly. The musk note is toooo dominant. There is no citrus after a couple of minutes. "MuskyMusk" is far better than "bergamask" as a name for this fragrance.

esk3linen

Oh boy oh boy. This is an interesting one. If you are not into strong musks, this might not be for you (even though one might grow to like it). This is most definitely not your typical citrus fragrance for sure. This is a strong perfume. I've had it for a month now and it has grown on me big time. It has actually become my favorite fragrance. That being said, unfortunately, at the same time it is the least versatile one in my humble collection. I mainly use this one on a night out or just when chilling at home. The reason being the strong musk. Some people can get quite annoyed by the sharp smell, a few colleagues of mine asked in the corridore "what is this nasty smell" . But some people will love the smell and I have received compliments with it. The thing with this one is, I think it can be unisex, as many perfumes marketed towards women have this type of strong musk smell in them. The same collegues also asked me "why are you wearing a women's perfume?". The reason for this question is because they know a few women who smell somewhat similar because of the musk. But for people who like this musky smell, they will love, love, love it. This one is 50/50 love or hate.

For me the magic in this fragrance is the juicy sillage which is just absolutely stunning in my opinion and occurs during the first 5 hours of the wear (and is not that musky). And weirdly enough I am never able to smell that particular fruityness when I smell the fragrance up close. It has probably something to do with the fragrance mixing with the air around you. After the juicy part you have the slightly body odory (strong) musk. Bergamask is sexy in a way that this smells somewhat human like. At least in the beginning when you have just sprayed this beast. I have discovered that the best way for me to use this one is having max. 2 sprays and preferably having them under my t-shirt. It is that potent trust me. Mostly I do only 1 spray and I'm good to go for hours. And for those who like to get noticed with their fragrance, no worries, even with one spray you definitely WILL.

Is it blind buy worthy? Well it depends. I bought it blind and my first reaction was ironic laughter towards myself "why on earth did I spend this much money on this.." however now I have no regrets whatsoever. If you like a gamble, buy it blind, but if you don't, then really don't. Some people will hate it for sure, some will love it to the moon and back. It is definitely an artistic perfume and many fragheads will surely appreciate it for what it is.
Overall, the whole Orto Parisi line seems to be like that. For now I have tried Bergamask, Boccanera and Seminalis and all of them in my opinion are extraordinary and unique and definitely not for the faint of heart people(The latter two are not my cup of tea at all, however I can appreciate them for what they are). You have to have confidence to wear these ones or otherwise they will wear you, and most likely destroy you. 😂 This is the reason why I rarely wear this in front of my collegues at the academy. During my free time, hell yeah.

In conclusion, this is the strongest, weirdest and in an intriguing way, the best citrus I've come across. Alessandro Gualtieri has my highest respect when it comes to perfume making. The quality and longevity are high as is the case also with the Nasomatto line, but style wise you might want to be cautious with the Orto Parisi concept as it opens a totally new world of smells. At least for me it did (Nasomatto seems to be more mass pleasing in general). I'm looking forward to trying Megamare next. Maybe I'll have a gamble on that one as well 😊

Just got this today, still testing.
What I can already say is that this is the sharpest, most masculine, most pungent, awesomest CITRUS I have possibly ever smelled.

To those liberal f tards who say this is unisex, I say ... Don't talk so much?

Manliest stuff ever made.

It reminds somewhat of Montale Intense Pepper with that sharp citrus (Sicilian Lemon 🍋 in the case of Montale) and spicyness but I dare say this one here is better.

Perhaps the best sharp masculine Citrus Aromatic ever made.
This just might be the ONE to rule them all.

Will update with mid and base and especially longevity, but I have a hunch that this will be exceptional there, as well.

Mark

Update: MAN this is good. It lasts? Absolutely. On skin, 24 hours straight out of the bottle.
Probably ties for 1st place with Aoud Musk Montale for me.
SHARP, pungent, OH so Aromatic Citrus that delivers. Can't recommend this one highly enough.
Masculine? 110%.

This fragrance has Sandalwood, probably the Australian one. To me it smells like a mix of Bergamot, Oz sandalwood and Musk.

Spender

I read all the comments below and that pushed me to try the beast.
Beast it is in term of performances, longevity is impressive, specially for a citrus kind of scent. The citrusy freshness is there almost all the time. Combined with the musk, it gives an interesting depth to the scent. It is not linear (which is good in my opinion). You have the 2 notes playing around all day. Great !
But I don't find the beast (animal) some of the reviewers are talking about and as suggested on the Orto Parisi website.
Quite the contrary actually, the scent is fresh and friendly. At some point in the very first minutes it reminds me of a strong anti mosquito formula (in a good way don't get me wrong). So I mean that if you are wearing Bergamask you won't shock the gallery.
Anyway, for those who are looking for fresh citrus scent that lasts, the performances of Bergamask are very impressive.

mark_frag

Alessandro Gualtieri is a master of intellectualizing “primal instincts” and provoking Puritanism. Denial is futile (heh). It reminds me of another master of animalistic shades, Prim Lomros. In the citrus / animalic context, Bergamask is very similar to the Act fragrance, made for the great new brand Der duft. The difference is that the animal in Bergamask escalates and stays almost to the end, while in Act it is more of an opening effect that quickly subsides. Both are phenomenal (and rare) examples of the longevity of citrus freshness. There is also a difference in citrus manipulation. Bergamask contains raw bergamot (no matter if it is synthetic or natural), while Act contains more straightforward lemon and orange. Both masters and both fragrances are also characterized by modernity, without excessive reliance on the past, especially 80 'scented bombs.

Eiland

My god, is this stuff potent, pungent, terrible, horrible, I hate hate hate it. The first 15-30 mins are nice, bergamot fresh, but already quite heavy on the nose.

Then the musk comes. Pam-pam-PAAMMMM.

And it is terrible. It smells animalic in such a pungent way it's off putting. It's a desecrating invasion of the nose. It is so damn nuclear that you get whiffs of it anytime you move a toe. And it does.not.go.away. After 3 days (3?!?!?! days?!?!?!?!?!) I can still smell it on the place where I initially sprayed it clear as day. I tried rubbing, scrubbing, soap, shampoo, other perfumes, I tried fucking everything and this stuff just won't go. It's on the clothes I've worn, it's on my coat, it's fucking everywhere. And i hate it.

Honestly, if you want to smell like a muscus deer and let everyone within a 5m circle know it, try this stuff. If not, don't try this at home, in a store, dont try it anywhere. Stay away from it, let it rot in it's glass perfume cell where it belongs. I wish I could wash away this experience and forget it 4 evah

So finally found this in India at a great price !! First one minute of wearing : " Bleh ! " I was not impressed at all and thought this is another one of those over hyped marketing gimmicky frag that youtubers rave about simply to garner views ! The smell in itself was okay-ish. Got a strong pungent lime ( Bergamot i guess ) and supported by some kinda oud-ish / woody note ! Anyways...Since i had bought it, thought might as well make it my SOTD , so sprayed 2 small spritz , one on chest and other on back collar of my shirt & then off i went to see how it goes ! Went to a chemist shop, usually he is quite a chatty bloke and he had a few friends also sitting inside his shop...but no comment from him ! ( Bear in mind : He knows me as a wearer of strange and weird smelling frags and often asks what is it that I was wearing...but this time he didnt even acknowlege ! ) From there i went for a beard trim and a haircut to a salon atleast 30mins away. Sat down and got my hair cut and trimmed...that took about an hour or so. Finished and went up to pay at that counter and there were these two young ladies barely in early twenties sitting with masks on and doing billing etc. I could make out that one was looking up at me and kinda staring, but i put that to maybe she is seeing how the haircut went for me...anyhoo, i paid and by that time i had almost forgotten that i even had this frag on me. As i was pocketing my wallet and about to turn away from the counter, she called back and said " excuse me sir...but i want to tell you that you are smelling extremely good ! What are you wearing ??" I was quite taken aback for 2 reasons...first....in India its very very rare for anyone to even compliment you & secondly...especially a young person to ask a man who is way older than her ( am 49 ) . I just mumbled a thanks and said its from this line called Orto Pairisi. She wrote it down and asked where can she get it from....anyways...u get the gist !....NOW.....coming to the scent of the frag by that time...To be very honest....This has a similar ghost of the escentric molecule line by Geza. In the sense...the frag appears and disappears according to its own whims and fancies and is so molecular in its nature that am quite sure the person wearing it may get nose blind to it very soon and may not realize that its still projecting and once the aroma chem pops ...its that one singular note may waft in air and travel to people around you who will smell it clearly and wonder who or where this smell is coming from. The scent by itself doesnt have a WOW !! Damn! kinda vibe to it when u smell it on your skin....but i guess the magic happens when its smelt by others and i really envy them b'coz i wanna so badly smell it myself all the time...but just like Escentric Molecules..this is a frag with its own heart and listens to a drum being rocked by Mr Alessandro Gualtieri ! By evening time this had changed into a very musky and strangely woody-musky-sweaty body odour kinda smell which was strangely addictive yet peculiar . It's for the serious mature men & noses and young thrusters might wanna sample it before buying. Not a blind buy for sure ! Def a full bottle worthy for the performance to price ratio . Need more time to further still explore its finer nuances...will update soon !

Bergamask

Simply put bergamot and musk
It starts citrusy and a little lactonic
The citrus stays for a good while
Though the musk stays for hours I’d say it might last for days if not washed
Longevity and projection Nuclear ☢️
I don’t know why I didn’t love it but it is a really great fragrance

The Swede

In my opinion the best in the whole series! Also the one I got the most praise for when it's really hot!

Nerweob

First timer wearing this scent. Very different to in the bottle, which is great. Initially I get a very bright Sicilian lemon not bergamot. Simile family.

Then I get heavy and dragged rosewood musk that also had a Prosecco undertone. However, as an all together package I get none of the above.

The scent as a whole package is very familiar and reminiscent of something in my childhood but I can’t quite work it out yet. Sillage is beautiful. I can smell it in the breeze. Completely unisex and moody. Not a dark moody this is a happy mood - airy and little worries in the world kind of mood.

As time goes on the musk is becoming more powdered. Overall it’s complex without smelling complex. It simply just smells like a nice package. Which is what you hope for in a luxury perfume.

I’m wearing it out and hope it gets a comment.

picknenders

Smells okay - but not something I’d want to smell on myself or others. Annoying hippie type twist on bergamot…dirty-ish and not fresh or clean smelling whatsoever. After having this on my want list for multiple years, and finally getting it, the disappointment is monumental. It’s a case of someone trying to do some artsy fartsy bullshit, but failing miserably. If this is what a night out in a small Italian town smells like, quarantine the town. Just a weird scent with no real wearability. Hard pass

i'm coming back to update this...while i stand by my previous description, i should have noted that my take was not intended to offend the folks who like this. I like some real stinky ones too - just not this one. i just wish i found the love for this one that so many others do.

I have only tried it once, so take this with a grain of salt. All I get is pool chlorine smell on my skin. It has great longevity, but it 90% resembles a fresh, clean chlorine swimming pool. There is the slightest hint of bergamot/musk in the far background. I had super high hopes for this. Was looking for a longer lasting version of Dior Homme Cologne, or something somewhat close and this isn't it. The performance is excellent. Really wanted that fruity musk scent with longevity. This wasn't it sadly. Sample first!

Edit: I just tried pdm Sedley for the first time. Both scents use a very similar musk/base structure. Sedley is like Bergamask with the musk dialed way down and added hits of aromatics and citrus (I still cannot pick up on citrus in Bergamask. I've used it for over a year on and off and only detect pool chlorine/animalic musk). Still have yet to find the perfect replacement to Dior Homme Cologne with better performance.

BERGAMASK opens up with a blast of fresh lavender before the jasmine overtakes the stage after a couple of minutes. A crisp bergamot accompanies the scent from start to finish. The aromatic-spicy-citrusy avant-garde is supported by a thick veil of a white musk. An enchanting and yet rather plain composition which appeals relaxing and alluring at the same time. I also have the same experience with scents like Jasmin Angelique, Amanu, Jasmin Moghol and MiN's Momento. My favourite from the ORTO PARISI's line remains TERRONI but BERGAMASK still manages to get under your skin. Drawing...

Javanol heaven.
Is it there. Is it not there. Oh crap it's gone. Bam it punches you in the face! I thought molecule 04 was great. Enter Berga-effin-Mask! Heaven. I can't wait for those hot days to arrive to make it justice. Citrus from bergamot plus the heavenly aroma chemical that is Javanol. Not perceived by everyone. But so powerful for the lucky ones! Leaves a trail like nothing else. You forget it's there: "Damn money down the drain, so weak, they watered it down like they always do" then you take a step and whoooooof! There it is again!
I am in total awe with this creation.

Spray the inside of your elbows or wrists and 2 sprays in upper back. Never chest or neck. It with help the ghost reveal itself if you have a hard time smelling Javanol at all or if you quickly get anosmic to it.

Enjoy.

talkaboutscents

Review after spending 2 days with Bergamask: I am surprised with the bad reviews as this fragrance is simply great for spring/summer - there's nothing stinking or off-putting to my nose. Notes are not revealed but I can easily tell you that this fragrance is an overdose of Javanol (a synthetic, amazing, and nuclear-radiating/lasting sandalwood molecule that has one of the lowest odor thresholds to human nose) supported by relatively weaker sandalwood materials but higher odor threshold (easier to smell for human nose) such as Ebanol.

FYI - Low odor threshold materials like Javanol are hard to experience, one close sniff and you get nose fatigue, but another time you can smell it aalll the way across the hall if someone walks by wearing Javanol-overdosed perfumes, like Molecule 04 or Bergamask). Bergamask is topped with a nice clean citrus accord and rounded with musks.

I suggest haters of Bergamask to read more on Javanol a bit more. Just like Molecule 04, you "might" have the illusion that this fragrance doesn't smell nice, or it feels light and airy. But I can assure you as the molecules are diluted in the air, you will fill up rooms and halls if you are not careful with the spray. This is one of those fragrances that you can't judge quickly with a sniff up close on your skin, no. You need to try it for some time, spray a cotton ball for example, and leave it in a room you don't visit often at your home or office. And see how you would smell it when you visit that room every now and then. Or spray it on your wardrobe and wait, or better, ask people around you if they smell your sillage rather than trying to judge it yourself. Less is more with these types of frags!

Overall, I love it, if you like sandalwood with a citrus twist this is a no brainer.

smilesayj

I honestly have no idea why anyone would spend money on this. Save your cash and buy a bottle of bergamot essential oil - smells exactly the same. Definitely unimpressed.

plainaccount

Have you ever meet a person that always smells and looks clean and gives off a "can do no wrong" aura when it comes to personal hygiene? Well, imagine if that person didn't wash their hair for a few days. Or a week. That's what this smells like. The unwashed hair of a really stunning woman who usually always smells heavenly. Kinda gross, kinda intriguing, but very strong. I sampled a bunch of perfumes on paper and this one overtook all of them when I came back after leaving my house. It's STRONG. Not for me.

turmerick

Found this from one of the websites:
'Alessandro created Bergamask after an evening spent in a tiny Italian village – he attended a town party and was enthralled by the scent in the air. It was hot and thick, the scent of Italian citrus trees wafting through the air, people were dancing with joyous abandon, the scent of sweat filled the air. The disregard for what others think, just the enjoyment of the moment. The traditional dance called Bergamasca originated from the town of Bergamo in Northern Italy. Considered a clumsy, rustic dance, Alessandro wanted to replicate the scent he remembered on that wonderful evening of joie de vivre. Bergamask captures the scent of a hot night – the smell of citrus fruits mingling with a musky undertone of sweat.'

And, I think I figured out why Alessandro Gualtieri has not revealed the note composition.

Note composition as per my nose:

Top note: Toilet disinfectant (Phenyle)
Heart note: Bergamot, maybe musk
Base Note: Human Sweat

Top stays for about 30-45 minutes. After that the heart stays for a few hours (6 ~). And then base kicks in.

Nothing interesting except the philosophy that comes along with it.

KingRidesBy96

Pretty neat, and I like it a lot. It's really quite strong and lasts forever. But it's not complex. Essentially I get a really strong, clear bergamot oil blended in almost equal proportion with, actually, an ambergris note. (Ambergris, NOT amber.) I know I am supposed to be smelling musk. But really I get a strong briny, halitosis-y, salty-scratchy sea aura. Somehow sparkly, fresh, and barfy. I thought my sig.other would hate it but he thinks it smells like a strong, nice after-soap smell.

It's a clever partnership of notes, and smells just like my fingertips would if I pulled the stopper on my bergamot oil and then my ambergris tincture and then sniffed them -- that same strength, potency, and mastery of blending.

But I like it!

IMO, if you know Seminalis, imagine the condensed almond milk half of that scent replaced with pure oily bergamot. Or reverse engineer this scent doing the same math. I think they have a fairly identical animalic half (and, to me, it's ambergris). Scratchy-barfy ocean breath.

The adverts for this are spot on, too. Oily, greasy, somehow sexy.

xain

One of the very best from the house. Refreshing and mood lifter. It will last for ages on you, a real compliment getter. This is a back up bottle worthy fragrance.
Instant love for me.

Andy the Frenchy

The early opening starts with a sparkling, realistic bergamot (and other citruses) note, kind of a 3 dimensional Eau de Guerlain. Shortly after, white florals (neroli, jasmine) and a beautiful soft musk comes in support, reminding me of Zegna Italian Bergamot EDP at that stage. The heart unveils a vanillic creaminess (sandalwood?), and the musk becomes a bit animalic with probably some spices (coriander, and possibly a hint of cloves and cumin), and that stage it vaguely reminds me of Eau d'Hermes but to my nose, it is just a remote impression, not a real similarity.
The base develop a metallic/sweet lavender with probably some widely used aromachemical (ambroxan and/or cashmeran and/or amber accord), similarly to the drydown of Dior Homme Eau (with bergamot in place of iris, of course). Excellent performance.

Bergamask does not invent anything new, but compile several accords already seen in other fragrances, modernize and improve them with a 3-D feeling, resulting in a beauty. No need for other musky citruses after owning that one, it kills the show.

A year after having tried it, I finally got my hands on it. I remember it was beautiful, and so it is. It's not cheap, but it's worth it imo, as a couple of sprays are enough, so it's a good investment. Highly recommended at discounter pricing.

My co worker walked into our large open plan office this morning and immediately exclaimed ‘it stinks in here’.

These molecules like to travel.

I like the frag. It’s a bit sweaty, like giving your brother a hug and realising he hasn’t showered yet. But yeah, he’s your bro and you love him, so it’s ok.

Max two squirts for the office. Definitely not four, ok?

Horrible. Smell of bathroom disinfectant!

Ok so now I'm addicted to this.

It's not fresh, but I find it so refreshing. It's not casual but I wear it casually. it's not really sweet, but there's something delicious about it.

This fragrance reminds me of nothing else. A league all on its own. I bought it blind and don't regret it at all. I'm totally infatuated with this one.

Still trying to understand this one, I think I may be anosmic to it?

It opens with a bitter kumquat orange with a dry almost chalky musk. Later it drys down into a bitter dry musk, similar to Seminalis. It's a little dirty. But as I said, I am still trying to figure this one out.

The opening sometimes really reminds me of an old school men's cologne. I like it.

TheCoconutCookie

(Review is from a sample)
I get three distinct phases from this fragrance.
First comes what I perceive from the other reviews: a citrus/bergamont with the signature Black Afgano/Orto Parisi musk accord. This is my favorite part.
Second, the musk becomes more powerful, a bit pungent, and (to my nose) a bit piercing. This is my least favorite stage.
Lastly, the citrus top fades and is replaced by the same rice/sandalwood/calming accord found in Seminalis.
Overall, masculine leaning, pleasant, and very strong.

Anyone hating on this cant be trusted!!!!LOL By far the most complimented scent in my cage! Guys often wait and try to catch you away from the crowd...Say man WHAT ARE YOU WEARING??? Its Beastly more than 2 sprays is WAY TO MUCH!

Tzarina

Do you love bergamot? Do you love musk? Do you want longevity on steroids? Get this. Nuff said.

And while you're at it, try Megamare.

muzzbait

it's like a citrusey black afgano...
or, to put it a little more eloquently, the base used for most of the orto parisi line (you know what i'm talking about) with some earl-grey-tea bergamot smeared on top...

i remember a few years ago, when i decided that i really dug nasomatto / orto parisi stuff enough to get one, i worked on a process of elimination, because i just could NOT get all of them.
most of these scents would be AMAZING and groundbreaking IF, and ONLY if, the other scents from the same DNA didn't exist...

RamsesII

Very simple composition
Not worth it in my opinion
Smells like the tons of citrus manceras out there
This company sells smaller amount for double the price

Not worth it in my opinion and nothing special at all
Just simple bergamot and musk. Leans feminine

Dunk

Went 5 sprays, before leaving a boutique today , I got 2 complements! It sorta reminds me of a stronger version of Kerosene R’oud Elements. The woods come into play after about 2-3 hours smoothing out the sharp bergamot and musk! I really like it , though I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone. It’s not an in between fragrance ... this is for Shorts&Flipflops or Suit&Tie! Nothing in between. It’s not date night . It’s not business meeting. It’s beers at the beach or Pheasant under glass

tayyabforyouth

Where do I start with this...this is a bonafide citrus masterpiece. If you like bergamot at all, this is the ONE. It's basically two notes in total to my nose (as hinted in the name). Bergamot, and a very animalic deer musk note. But man does it work so well on my skin! There is a bit of saltwater accord in it as well to my nose. It's such a unique take on bergamot that you really just have to smell this instead of reading about it. Performance is also out of this world for a citrus fragrance, with 8+ hours of longevity, and moderate to strong projection. This is a fragrance I want multiple backup bottles of.

Andy the Frenchy

A very simple masterpiece. I think this is the apex of the whole line, in front of Terroni.

Congrats Ale!

Spring/Fall days.

This got me the most complements from all niche perfumes i have. It talks directly to the brain of the other gender...

drober15

I’m conflicted. The smell isn’t objectively bad. The bergamot is clear and up-front. The dry down brings out a musk, and maybe some herbaceous and orange notes. The biggest problem is that Bergamask is powerful and pungent. If you are into it, then great, but if you’re not, you’re really stuck with it. You and the people around you must realllyyy like that sweaty, animalic type of scent to enjoy this. Probably the bigger problem is that it doesn’t come off easily. It has survived on my clothes for two wash cycles, and Bergamask got all over other clothes in the wash too. Additionally, the smell on me the next day was truly gross. Much like a musky, elderly apocrine gland secretion. I’m not against wearing it in the future, but it’s going to take some tinkering to get the technique so that it doesn’t gross me out.

PaulShalom

Ugh..An absolutely horrid, old man's fragrance from the 1920's. Citrus? Freshie??..Yeah, right. Do NOT blind buy this scrubber.... And it doesn't scrub off easily. Monster longevity.

Moncheri

Similar to Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur. Not as complex as Guerlain MdM. It's nice, a perfume as a cologne.

Starts with strong bergamot, natural and fresh. In the middle you smell a clean musk but as the time goes by, the sweaty musk kicks in and lasts a long time. I love it, very nice summer scent with characteur.

ET76

Tried it yesterday. My review would be similar to the one made by Anais Nin.
Update: Bought it today. There’s definitely more than two ingredients in this parfume.

XentMaster

Really not sure where people are getting Musk out of this. Perhaps it's a name to note association? Bergamot, yes, but I don't get musk out of this...I get Bergamot and Ambergris and that's about it, from beginning to end, which by the way is about 24 hours later.

I know that Gualtieri does not reveal the note breakdown of his fragrances, so the association of the name Bergamask to Bergamot and Musk is understandable.

Anyway, I'm really not into citrus scents at all, but I do enjoy marine accords so maybe it's the ambergris that I perceive that makes this one work for me. Or maybe it's the pure potency of the juice as most citruses are rather fleeting; two sprays and your likely to gas people out, I know because I've done it. One spray to the chest under your shirt and a quick half spritz on your arm and you good to go.....Until the next day!

Overall, I'll rate it an 8 out of 10, deducting points only for being too potent of a scent.

Edit: After a few more wearings I've really turned on this fragrance....it's just too cloying and unforgiving. I have since sold it off.

no-fi

Bergamask is a brilliantly minimalist citrus fragrance. The huge bergamot note is stunning, with both fruity and herbal aspects. It is bolstered by a forest of furry grey musk. And that's it - bergamot and musk.

Bergamask is surprisingly dark for a citrus fragrance, and has monstrous longevity and projection, thanks to its parfum concentration and synthetic musk base.

This would make an excellent signature scent for a creative individual in a shadowy profession.

sagarjanvekar

Never thought such a crazy combination is so good Alessandro Gualtieri You are prbly Dopehead or You have exceptional intellectual ability to understand notes....
that sandalwood is so authentic and its so much dynamic no words to express, personaly i loved this Fragrance I have a full Bottle now its worth having in my collection.
Very potent Jucie 1 spray or 1 n half Max will last 20+ hours ...

projection- 10/10 (hours couple of feet away)
longevity - 10/10
complements - mid to basenotes esp. on base .....sandalwood sweaty undertone got noticed many times.

ahmed-alahmedi

Fragrance from the perfume of eosinophils If you are a fan you will love it but I see that it lacks a lot of perfume becomes a fragrance of citrus Valberjmot and lime dominate the fragrance from the beginning of the fragrance until the middle of the fragrance fragrance does not change from the beginning until the middle after the musk to make the fragrance more vibrant and soft even sandal power It is known to be dull in fragrance

< Latin berga - related to bergamot>
< pre-Latin *maskara - false face worn at a carnival, masquerade>

After a glorious and indisputable Citrus opening, the wolf unzips the sheep's clothing to reveal an intense tarry-charcoal dry down. Is this Benzoin? It's the strongest benzoin I'd seen, since Olympic Orchid's Blackbird's base note. While I love benzoin, it's usually as a side dish, not the main course. Two sprays induced a 5-alarm migraine.

Aside from the headache, I actually quite love Bergamask. It's a skillful play of light versus dark -- the surreptitious subterfuge of a bright/ light opening, followed by serious darkness. It's around the 15 minute mark when the 'mask' comes off, and the Jekyll meets Hyde.

LLB_addict

LOVE THIS! I love bergamot. I love musk. If these are truly the only 2 notes.....they are blended perfectly :o) Mmmmmmmmmmmm......

Q80

This is citrus smooth and super amazing but unfortunately the metallic note makes it awfully disturbing to my sensing. Only if there weren't that metallic note it would have been the best of his creations.

Marilimorajaspani

Honestly, this is good juice, 10/10 for compliments alone, I was followed today and she smiled as she went past me but I can't blame her, it is really beautiful.
I also went into the local curry shop for takeaways and the owner came in a few minutes after me and he said he knew I was there again, he smelled the magic down the road he said.
It projects well but it is not loud or egotistical or sharp.
Sillage is just perfect 10/10
Longevity is perfect from shower to shower 10/10
Smell is personally magnificent for such a simple composition, 9/10.
Price is great for real art. 10/10
Innovative / creative packaging 9/10

- - But here's the most interesting part that just makes The Nose so great...
When I bought the orto, I had decided on Brutus and Stercus but I took the Bergamask instead. When I got home I unboxed the bottle and I sprayed my arm, it was beautiful... then I noticed a nasty smell and it was my fingers, really nasty like an old dirty dish-cloth smell, so I washed my hands in the kitchen with dishwashing soap. A few minutes later I noticed my fingers were stinking again, I wondered if I had not washed them properly, so I washed them again. I sat down again puzzled about what was making my fingers smell and I picked up the bottle... and then I realised that there was a small smudge of clear oil on the underside of the bottle, I had my friend smell my fingers and he was disgusted! Yet I still couldn't explain the existence of the foul smell. A week later I bought the Boccanera and the same thing happened again. In each case I had to wipe the bottles carefully. At first I thought perhaps the juice leaked but the juice is beautiful. I thought it may be a mistake in production but no, the drop of foul oil was carefully placed in the 'dimple' at the bottom of the bottle such that it never even touched the cardboard box. I did read later that the juice was originally exhibited/displayed on a plinth of dry manure. I believe this foul smell is a 'gift' from the artist, I am grateful as we are all thoroughly entertained by this and plus the juice is heavenly.
Did anyone else notice the foul fingers after handling a new bottle?

Overall - 10/10 Bravo!!!

sometimes your 'thoughts' tarnish your 'feelings'.

smell and scent is largely a feeling-based phenomenon for me. connected to memory, the impression a perfume makes on you is largely influenced by socio-affective factors. in and of themselves, a 'basic' scent with no artistry, depth of development has the potential to woo me to such an extent that i no longer categorise perfumes in 'good' and 'bad' camps.
there's 'like, love or hate'.

this is an example where this has been turned on its head.

we start off with a largely edible citrus opening (edible in that it's not a lime or lemon, it comes across as an orange or pomelo.
then, we get the soft, candy-musk scent quite prevalent in the arabic oil/attar scene.
then comes the wonderful bitter-sweet 'something'.
i was loving this 'something' that i was getting.
it was awesome.
it was amazing.
i was thinking of getting this.

then, my brain made the connection; the synth oud that amouage uses.
the wonderful bubble-fizz that i get is just the firmenech oud blend / black agar (i mix those two up all the time!) with a gentle citrus.

disappointing.

it smells nice.
i like it.
but it ain't that special.

i think a perfume needs to amaze you with a "now what is that i can smell?" sensation.
this one, unfortunately, does not.

still nice though. definitely worth a try...

According to the creator Alessandro Gualtiéri, this fragrance evokes the dance festival of Bergamo, a small town in the north of Italy where strange creatures with bare bodies and head adorned with horned masks sweat animality. The bergamot ignites the golden back, burning with a beastly musk.
Bergamask is a passionate, lively, naked, unfiltered perfume in a bottle with an Ethiopian buffalo horn cap circled in metal.
To me, this fragrance is simply amazing if you like citrus fragrances.
I'm wondering why Kumquat is not listed in the ingredients because I recognize it in the smell of the fragrance.
There is no doubt about it.
For me a very good sunny release by Orto Parisi.

magnifiscent111

Starting with a citrus accord where the Bergamot is most present with hints of what I think is mandarin. What strikes me is the large amount of musk and sandalwood that penetrates the fragrance. I believe it is a large overdose of Javanol to be more precise. Probably some other sandal materials too. It is the first Orto Parisi perfume I had the chance to smell and I´m positively surprised. Longevity is good and the sillage is even better but, of course, flattens over time. Looking forward to try out more perfumes in the OP line.

Dr.ThraX

I'm positively sure that I smelled something ( close ) to this one , but I struggling to recall it :- ..

Still , not as good as this one .

"'Berga'mot is a very fresh citrus fruit. 'Mask' to capture the musky odor expelled by a fresh kill." -The Nose, Alessandro Gualtieri

It is a bergamot with musk fragrance!

Bergamask opens with bergamot, hints of sandalwood. The bergamot is dry. A skanky note joins in, I love the musk on my skin, its my favorite part of Bergamask. As the fragrance develops I smell something herbal and a little sweetness.

The longevity on my skin is great and sillage is soft!!

If you like Alessandro Gualtieri as much as me, you should give this a try.

stecarpano

I am not a big fan of bergamott in general but this one when i tried it on was quite pleasent, although i wouldnt make a purchase. The intensity of it comes from the woods added in it and it is quite interesting the way it develops. Lasts long and smells clean. An easy daywear.

Bergamask opens with (who would have thought it) bergamot. But it’s a really untypical citrusy fragrance: it’s combined with sandalwoody notes in a nice way.
While the bergamot weakens, the woody and musky (which I perceive only slightly) notes emerge.
It can remain an open question whether the perfumer used natural or (partly) artificial components to create this woody effect but he has done it anyway well. So the backround consisting of sandalwood and musk is done very soft and tender.

The fragrance is definitely worth a try, especially for fans of Alessandro Gualtieri.

Amer149

was a blind buy because i like most of Alessandro creation i know i will get something different thatn other citruis fragrances so, did i like it ?

of course was a happy blind buy for me .

it is open with stronge citrus notes bergamote which i smell for mminutes later it is change to dirty musky and amber is there for sure .

first application i thought it is not last and the sillage is poor but i was so wrong about it

second time i was suprise how is it project like a monster and lasdt for a whole day on me .

this fragrance not as usual citruis fragrances it is citruis as Alessandro want not for everyone but if you like Alessandro creation try it.

now after trying all the Orto brand i own all 5 fragrances and all a bottle worthy for me .

project 10/10
last all the day 10/10

My God Gualtieri, what have you been thinking!!!!
Bergamask, is an absolute disaster, it is not fresh, it is penetrating and annoying!
I like Gualtieri a lot but this one...I can't see the point.
It smells like an attempt to reproduce a cheap men cologne that has been on clothes for over a week or so.
Not for me

alberto1964

A drug: at first the scent seemed trivial, then I started to appreciate the drydown, after just an hour I was able to love in the middle of the essence .... I love the great longevity of smoked bergamotd, I love the aroma of dusty musk. Great....a drug.

deadidol

A huge bergamot over a slew of powdery musks and vague white florals. Extremely compressed chemicals (you can tell he’s just layering the same note over and over through different molecules) that create a wall of bergamot with zero character and zero connection to anything natural. Mildly herbal, mildly honeyed, a handful of super-tame musks, but there’s really not much more to it than that. So, picture something like Neroli Portofino with any semblance of naturally-occurring materials removed and replace them with animatronic stand-ins and you’ll get what this is about. It’s probably the most loud bergamot available, and that’s not a good thing. An over-compressed illiterate bergamot train wreck.

IT.

EN. Surprisingly this perfume, seemingly more "conventional" of the provocative line "Orto Parisi" by Alessandro Gualtieri, spreads with animal aggression mixed with the fresh aroma (reminiscent of bergamot blossom). Alexander proposes a description that only after trying the perfume you would appreciate its accuracy: "a dance at the feast, hot day, sweaty bodies, a mix of strong smells and the state of the soul."

carlo passanese
