Some steps in paleoart painting. It's not finished yet, I'll post an updated version when it is.
This is painted in Photoshop Elements 2 - a fairly old, basic program - the sketches are done with the Wax Pencil tool, the background with the Soft Round Airbrush, and the colors are blocked in with the airbrush but the fur texture will be done with the Pastel Medium Tip and the smudge tool.

Oooh! I like this, very nice simple tutorial-esque piece, these guys are very neat looking, pitty nothing quite like them is around today...also probably fortunate as I doubt many of us would be still here with a great deal of large preds running about, XD
Strange how for mammals social -> bigger brains, and yet ants manage to be incredibly social with tiny tiny brains.
