MS Dhoni’s love for vehicles cannot be understated. The former skipper of the Indian cricket team probably has one of the best automobiles in the country. His garage boasts of everything from top-of-the-line luxury cars to two-wheelers that are very hard to get your hands on. And now, the man has gone ahead and claimed another rare jewel. This time, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has added a modified Nissan 1 ton aka the Nissan 4W73 series truck to his collection.

This exact vehicle was used by the Indian Armed Forces for a long time before the model was discontinued. However, from the pictures that have surfaced on the internet, it seems like Captain Cool has made some modifications to his new ride. Reports suggest that the work was done by SD Offroaders Nakodar. This company has modified and sold a lot of Jongas and 1 Ton among other off-roaders in past. It is painted a bright green and he has added in some new features.

The reason this vehicle is so rare is because the Nissan 1 Ton is, in fact, a military vehicle. It is very rare to catch a site of this car on normal roads because it was only sold and designed specifically for the Indian Army. In fact, a very similar Nissan truck that was also used by the Indian Army was given the acronym JONGA by the army itself. It stands for Jabalpur Ordinance and Guncarriage Assembly. That car was an older generation of the Nissan Patrol model.

Both the vehicles were trusted army cars for a long time. However, the company did make these models available to civilians very briefly before discontinuing them nearly two decades ago. This means that there are no new models that you can go out and buy, unless you purchase it directly from a previous owner or from the Indian army. However, modified versions of the car are sold at several car body shops and mod houses.

Due to its rarity, this car generally comes with a very hefty price tag. Pictures surfaced on the internet lead us to believe that Dhoni may have purchased the car from the Army itself. It must not have been that difficult for him considering his brief stint in the Paramilitary Forces. However, we have no doubt that he must have paid a big price for the car.

Besides the Nissan 1 Ton, Mahi has spent his millions on cars like the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Hummer H2, Land Rover Freelander 2, Audi Q7, GMC Sierra, Mahindra Scorpio as well as the Mitsubishi Pajero. On the two-wheeler front, Dhoni is the proud owner of the Confederate Hellcat X132, Kawasaki H2, Ducati 1098, Kawasaki Ninja ZX14R, Harley Davidson Fatboy and a couple of Yamaha bikes.
