The 2023 Greensleeves Music Recitals

We are excited to host our annual recitals again this May at West Chester University. The recital dates are Friday May 19th (evening) and Saturday May 20th (morning).

Every Greensleeves student is invited to participate. It's a wonderful opportunity to showcase talent and hard work and to experience performing on-stage in a comfortable, supportive environment. Recitals are open to all instruments and voice and all levels from beginner and up!

The cost is $25 per family entry. This fee will be added to a lesson invoice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the recital?

Recitals are usually 45 - 60 minutes. We try to cap each one at about 20 performers.

What happens during the recital?

Before the recital, everyone arrives, receives a program, and seats themselves. The room has elevated, theater-style seating. When it’s time to begin, Ben will introduce the first performer. They will go to the stage area, play their piece, and return to their seat. We will go in order of the program and students will be able to see when it will be their turn. We ask that everyone stay for the duration of the performance.

What about virtual students?

They are welcome to participate!

Can we warm up before the recital?

Yes. Students are welcome to arrive 10 - 20 minutes early and warm up on their instrument or on the piano.

Can family members attend?

Yes. The room has capacity for 120 people total. If you’re going to have 5 or more people in attendance, we ask that you give us a heads up.

What should performers wear and bring?

Performers can wear whatever feels comfortable to them. Many dress up, others keep it casual. All students should bring their sheet music. Some need to bring their instrument. There is a piano in the room and we will bring a mic for vocal performers if needed. Other instruments should be brought by the students (woodwinds, brass, strings). If you need an amplifier or drums, please let us know.

What if we cannot make it, or don’t feel ready?

We understand that not everyone can make it, but we encourage students to take the opportunity to perform if they can!

Those who are not able to attend are more than welcome to submit a video performance that we’ll share online!
