Here are some of the sample sentences I go through in the podcast: 

 

Es regnet heute.

(It rains today.)

It is raining today.

 

Heute regnet es nicht.

(Today rains it not.)

Today it’s not raining.

 

Es regnet schon den ganzen Tag.

(I rains already the whole day.)

It is raining all day long.

 

Es regnet in Strömen.

(I rains in sheets.)

It is raining cats and dogs.

 

Gestern hat es nicht geregnet.

(Yesterday has it not rained.)

Yesterday it was not raining.

 

Am Sonntag hat es den ganzen Tag geregnet.

(On Sunday has it the whole day rained.)

On Sunday it was raining all day long.
