15 beautiful wall hangings to add personality to your home
Add some texture and interest to your walls.
A wall hanging or tapestry can transform your space, making it feel homelier, cosier and more personal.
You've likely got a mirror, framed photo and some artwork already, but for some additional bohemian flair or a bit of texture, a well-placed wall hanging can help soften a room, adding some welcome colour and interest. Plus, they're a little more unique than your standard framed poster.
How to display a wall hanging
Most wall hangings on our list come on a rod that can be hung from a nail, or you could also use adhesive hooks or hanging strips that don’t require drilling or hammering into the wall (a much better choice for renters).
Larger tapestries will need nailing — or pinning, for more lightweight options — to keep them in place. Self-adhesive alternatives, such as velcro strips, make a good option for those not keen on making holes in their wall.
Framing is another option, creating a serious statement for square or rectangular tapestries — although keep in mind that framing won’t work for highly textured pieces or anything with an unusual shape.
