Minutes after new inductees in the Narendra Modi cabinet took oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav took a swipe at Janata Dal (United), which did not join the Union cabinet.

"The BJP does not believe Nitish Kumar and therefore did not accommodate Janata Dal (United) in the Union cabinet," said Lalu Prasad.

The RJD supremo said, "They (JD-U) did not get invites (for oath-taking ceremony). One who leaves his people, won't be taken in by others. It is Nitish Kumar's fate."

Lalu Prasad's caustic comments come on the back of reports indicating Nitish Kumar's resentment with the BJP for not giving Janata Dal (United) adequate ministerial berths in the Narendra Modi cabinet.

However, on the face of it, Nitish Kumar maintained that there were no talks of his party joining the Union cabinet. On Saturday, the Janata Dal (United) chief said "we have not received any proposal so far" on joining the Union cabinet.

Rebel Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav, while calling his faction the real JD(U), said, "We don't know why JD(U) did not get anything (in the Cabinet)".

"It is sad that I have to say the NDA is not what it used to be," said Sharad Yadav, adding that under Atal (Bihari Vajpayee) and Advani, the NDA had more representation from other parties and less from the BJP. "Now, it is just Modi and (Amit) Shah," Sharad Yadav said.

Congratulating the new inductees in the Narendra Modi cabinet, Sharad Yadav said the reshuffle would not make much difference if the promises made in 2014 remain unfulfilled. "Unemployment, farmer suicides, under-development still persist. The achche din have not come yet," Sharad Yadav said.
