CORENE OVERBY LANGSTON

Obituary

Corene Overby Langston was born May 13, 1942, to W.D. and Clara Overby. She was the oldest of eleven children. She attended Harper High School.

On August 29, 1959, she and Mack Arthur Langston were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union, seven children were born. Corene confessed Christ at an early age at Rock Pisgah M.B. Church where she served faithfully. She was a member of the Sylvarena Sunday School Union Convention where she served as treasurer for years and she loved doing it.

Corene worked at Magnetek for over 25 years. She was always speaking about her job and her coworkers. But the one thing she loved more than anything, was the Lord. Her second love was cooking and feeding people. She loved seeing her food make people smile and stop their stomach from growling. She will truly truly be missed.

She leaves to share her memories: four daughters, Clara Taylor, Maxine (John) Ward, Annie (Vincent) Owens, all of Mendenhall, Mississippi, and Sandra (Mitch) Brown of Pinola, Mississippi; one adopted daughter, Ella Pearl Weathersby of Harrisville, Mississippi; two sons, Arthur (Adrienne) Langston, and Mack, both of Mendenhall, Mississippi; 15 grandchildren, Courtney, Jermaine, Willie, D’Mario, DéJunta, Kia, Coneka, Ray Ray, Kiya, O’Sheena, Kendric, Kaylin, Deanna, DáNyah and A’Laylah; 13 great grandchildren; four sisters, Earline McCarthy of New Orleans, Louisiana, Clara Jones of Chicago, Illinois, Carolyn (Sidney) Collier, Armersteen Dampeer, and Annie Stapleton, all of Mendenhall, Mississippi; four brothers, Willie (Linda) Overby, Henry (Gloria) Overby, Earnest Overby and Michael (Classie) Chaney, all of Mendenhall, Mississippi; six sisters-in-law, Lillie Overby, Wilean Craft, and Rosie Womack, all of Mendenhall, Mississippi, Donna Craft of Braxton, Mississippi, Lorrine of Houston, Texas and Luvinne Rodgers of Gulfport, Mississippi; one brother-in-law, Leroy Craft; one special aunt, Jennie Howell of Gulfport, Mississippi; one special uncle, T.J. Overby of Lyman, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Corene was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Arthur Langston, Sr.; a son, John Earl Langston; one adopted son, Earl (Blue) Milton; a grandson, Decorius Ward; her father and mother, W.D. and Clara Overby; a brother, John Overby, Sr., and a sister, Janet Overby Walker.
