Along the Weser River in Hesse, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia you find the Weserbergland. This picturesque region is known for being the home of many German legends and fairy tales. Among others, the stories about Cinderella and Baron Münchhausen originated here, and the Pied Piper of Hamelin also has his home here. However, the Weserbergland also has a lot to offer hikers. In this sparsely-populated region, you’re soon alone in nature, far away from the hustle-and-bustle of the big cities. Idyllic river landscapes, dense forests and hilly meadows await you.

In this Collection, we present ten wonderfully-varied hikes in the Weserbergland. We have focused on the routes with the best views. You can look forward to high viewpoints and panoramic clifftops that attract everyone from walkers to climbers. You'll have impressive long-distance views of the surrounding region and even beyond, from the Harz Mountains in the east to Hanover in the north.

From family-friendly Tours to expert hikes, this Collection offers something for everyone. Many of the Tours are ideal for a day of hiking with children. For those looking for a challenge, you'll find it in the Weserbergland. For example, there’s the Weser-Bever-Höhenweg with its 32 kilometres (20 mi) to cover and 740 metres (2,430 ft) of elevation gain to tackle.

To offer you as much variety as possible, the hikes are scattered throughout the Weserbergland. In the very south of the region, near the historic town of Hann Münden, you can admire countless half-timbered houses and climb the Blümer Berg. From the top, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the confluence of the two great headwaters of the Weser: Werra and Fulda. In the north of the Weserbergland, you find the wind-tanned cliffs of the Hohenstein, where the opportunity to enjoy a spectacular sunset awaits.

We hope you're already planning to enjoy the many gorgeous views in the Weserbergland for yourself soon. If you're looking for even more inspiration, check out our profile. There you’ll find a variety of other hiking and cycling tour suggestions in the region: komoot.com/user/weserbergland.
