Be An Over-Doer

"There are a lot of people who will overthink rather than overdo." - Steve Sims #bluefishing

My whole life has been trying to overcome one fear after another. In my pastoring days, I would spend so much more time in my office planning than I would out in the schools just hanging out with students.

Because in my office planning was safe. Out there in the world with teenagers was scary!

As a Christ-follower, I watch a lot of people blame prayer for why they choose not to act (me included). It's the safe way to not do anything..."Oh, I'm just praying about it."

You know what I believe?

"The Lord blesses moving feet."

It's hard for the blessing to show up when there's no action taking place.

In the Gospels, Jesus didn't tell the disciples to stop throwing your nets, go pray, then you'll catch fish. He said keep throwing buy try the other side of the boat! And boom...the amount of fish they caught almost capsized the boat.

Have you ever wondered why we are like this? Why we feel so inadequate most of the time? Why we never measure up or assume we are going to fail or mess up? We are our own worst enemy every single time.

In my last two businesses, I constantly let the fear of the unknown keep me from taking action. What if they ask me a question I don't know? What if they tell me no? What if I do a poor job? What if I'm not good enough?

The questions would go on and on in my head. It ruined my momentum day after day.

But 3 1/2 months ago things changed for me. I started a new business, KyleDraper.com. Something happened...I decided that I was going to not care about what I didn't know and just press forward at all times. I've said yes to things that I had no clue what I was doing. But guess what? It forced me to go learn and improve! And then I found out, I was actually good at it. I just didn't know it yet.

I have watched God show up in the most insane ways and I think it's 100% because I'm just saying yes and trusting Him.

Can I say...I'm having the time of my life and freaking out at the same time. Ha. But I wouldn't want it any other way. We always hear people say we need to get outside of our comfort zones and get uncomfortable, but I didn't do that very often.

Now I live there! Every client I work with, we encounter new territory where I've never been, and you know what...God just keeps showing up! It's amazing!

Let this message be your wake up call! Get out of your own way! You don't need to know more, you need to do more with what you know. Get out there and start saying yes! Go mess up, learn from it, get better and then serve more people! And gosh dang it....BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE AWESOME BECAUSE YOU ARE!

Think about this, while you are sitting inside planning the next 5 years of your life, someone else is already out there living what you want your next 5 years to look like. Take action.

BE AN OVER-DOER, NOT AN OVER-THINKER.
