Geoffrey Darrow studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. When he was 24 years old, he started working as an animator for the Hanna-Barbera studios. For six years, he cooperated on television series like 'Scooby Doo', 'Richie Rich', 'Superman', 'Batman' and 'The Smurfs'. In 1982, he met Moebius during the making of the film 'Tron'. Moebius was so impressed with Darrow's work that he asked him to illustrate 'Internal Transfer'. Two years later, Darrow moved to Paris, where he cooperated with Moebius again on the portfolio 'La Cité Feu'.

Darrow returned to the States, but kept working for European publishers and magazines. In 1990, he teamed up with Frank Miller to create 'Hard Boiled' at Dark Horse Comics, followed by 'Big Guy and Rusty the Robot' five years later. 'Big Guy' was made into an animated cartoon series and line of toys.
