The course aims to provide participants with the necessary practical and pedagogical skills regarding assessing competence of students and / or valid professionals in operational environments and situations.

The Assessor course is certified and compliant with the regulation (EU) 2015/340.

It also aims to impart an understanding of current European controller competence regulations and of the principles of assessing competence. The participants shall gain appreciation about competence assessment techniques and good practises to facilitate them to the role of Competence Assessor.

Prerequisites

The Lektor Assessor Training Course is designed for controllers who will carry out the assessments and certifications of competence of student controllers and other controllers for the issuance of new qualifications or the renewal of existing qualifications. We welcome also participants with other qualifications in the aviation domain, such as ATSEPs and AFISOs.

Training methods

The Lektor Assessor Course comes with full online delivery. It comprises of theoretical and practical modules, which all can be completed with a professional ATC Training instructor via videoconferencing tool.

The modules with instructor driven learning includes discussions, presentations, virtual table-top exercises and case-studies. They are designed involve the learner in the process, so the participants will have a very active role on the course.

The same technology is used also to complete the competence assessment at the end of the course.

Duration of the course

The Lektor Assessor Course is usually completed in 3 days. But because we adapt to your needs, it could take between 2-4 days.

Objectives of the course

After successful completion of the course a participant shall fulfil the requirements of regulation (EU) 2015/340 in order to apply for Assessor endorsement to their ATCO licence. After completing the Lektor Assessor course, the participant shall establish competence in:

  • regulatory environment and legal obligations

  • types of assessment and their application

  • performance objectives constituting air traffic controller competence

  • conditions of assessments to create reliable results

  • processing of assessments and administrative procedures

  • giving verbal feedback and writing assessment reports

  • vested interests and code of conduct

  • accurately assessing competence against the performance objectives

  • developing a good questioning technique and designing questions appropriate to the assessment

Certificate

After successful completion of the course, the participant receives a Training Certificate, which states the Assessor endorsement.
