Do you empower them to find ways to say "yes" whenever possible? This post provides a teachable moment for your next staff meeting, so consider posing the question for discussion. Here are a few solutions that seem obvious, and perhaps they will have others: - Borrow a chair from an unoccupied room and mark it "out of order." (Robin was only staying 2 nights.) If the hotel was sold out... - Offer to bring up a chair from a meeting room. If those were all needed, (seems unlikely)... - Pull a chair from a restaurant. If you don't have a restaurant or it cannot spare a chair... - Borrow a chair from the waiting room of an admin/operations office? One more thought... with more people working remotely than ever, and with the majority of guest rooms offering only one chair, I'm pretty sure this is not an unusual request, so how about just having a few extra chairs in storage?
